Well I have not had issues with my Stylist, maybe once she cut it a bit close.

What do you think about he Murad cleanser? I have combo skin that veers towards the oily, so I need moisture but not anything too intense. For mornings, I use a Clinique 7 Day Scrub cream, which is a very mild exfoliator. Night I feel like I need a better cleanser before getting into that routine -- I've been using a strawberry cleanser from Fresh but I'm kind of... meh about it. It smells gorgeous but that's kind of about it.

I use the one for moisture and it has daily exfoliation which I like.  (it dries a bit for me.) But they have so many different options!

I used to. She was great, cost a terrible amount of money though. She did all the wedding hair and makeup. Now I just go to the lady in the local place, but honestly your hair could come out potentially massacred at any time. Haven't gone since the early fall.. too scared.. hair is just back in a bun now.

Anything and everything could give me hives (Biolage once caused me a two month treatment of steroids and even detergent can be risky), so it's a good old average soap bar for me and sensitive shampoo. MAC is used for cleanser and makeup (which is rarely used anyway). Simply put us poor housewife carers don't have the time and money to be putting stuff on if we're running around all day taking care of the elderly and cleaning.

My hair costs between 50 and 150 depending on what's done.  But I have never had a bad cut from her which is why i keep going.  The only reason I go often is the color but otherwise it's more like twice a year tops. Like the dentist LOL

Speaking of, there's a BOGO 30% sale on skincare on Sephora.com this weekend -- just got the app push notification.

Edit to add: the code is SAVEONSKIN

If you use conditioner and let it drip over your face it works quite well.

Yes, I know of BOGOF. But this is specifically not BOGOF, since the second item is just at a discount. Therefore it is BOGO thirty percent off.

Neeps and tatties await, I'd better get back to it.

Glad we cleared that up, for the sake of the Mods the last bit is not VJ Family unfriendly.

Not much to say about cosmetics, but I'm a fan of the Baby Foot mask, but they're not cheap. Someone told me to try out the "Earth Therapeutics  Gentle Peeling Foot Mask" for $2-3 at Walmart... It's nearly as good and 80% cheaper.

Note : it takes a good 10 days before feetsies look great and stop shedding, so, not a last minute fix.

I've just moved 300 miles and have to find a new stylist here. I don't dye my hair but I will need a cut in the next six weeks or so. $100 seems a fairly regular amount to me for a women's cut. It's not that women want to pay that much, it's that it's one of the retail experiences in life where women pay more than men -- the so called pink tax. The argument is frequently that women's cuts are more complicated, or that we have more hair, but I recently read an article (must look for it) where women who have their hair cut in so-called "men's cuts" are forced to pay more than men who get literally the same cut as men. Same amount of hair to cut, same styling, more money. So unbelievably dumb.

My own hair is kind of medium thickness and fairly straightish with some wave, but it does tend to frizz. I started using the Kerastase Discipline line last year and wow. It has completely transformed the frizz issue for me -- I rarely have to deal with it now. This stuff is NOT cheap and I am very aware of it, but a little goes a very, very long way and I take advantage of my Sephora Rouge status to use those 20% off sales whenever they happen. I bought a tub of the deep conditioner in the beginning of September and I will be finishing it on the next treatment (I do one every weekend). I know it's not in everyone's budget, but for me, it's an investment. I am also a big fan of the R+Co and IGK brands, which are a little less spendy and which I have used with some success.

However, it's not all super big ticket hair products for me -- my favorite smoothing serum (and I have tried a gazillion of them over the years) is the Kristin Ess Working Serum, which is usually about $10-15 at Target. Again, a little goes a looooooooong way -- takes me about 4 or 5 months to get through a bottle. I've been broke before and made do with dollar store stuff, but I'd have been better off saving up to spend a little more for a $10 shampoo than going through bottle after bottle of 99 cent VO5 -- they're so thin you end up speeding through an entire bottle in no time. The cheap conditioners often stripped my hair, and I was already feeling like a disaster -- looking like one too didn't do a lot to help me through those times. Beauty may seem silly to some people, but to me keeping myself looking healthy and put together does a lot towards helping me stay healthy and put together on the inside. :)
