Why do you do your foundation after?

I do my foundation after my eye makeup for two reasons. I read them in Allure a few years ago and they make sense, to me at least! First, it gives your skin more time to soak up the moisturizer and primer. Second, if you make mistakes with your eye makeup and you need to clean things up (like getting eyeshadow fallout on your cheeks, your you put on eyeliner and eff it up and manage to get it on some place that isn't where it's supposed to go), you're not removing the foundation too. I made the switch and find it works for me.

I am also on board with the mascara samples. I wear it nearly every day, but it goes bad so quickly.

How to clean your makeup brushes

Synthetic or natural, they will last longer if you wash and dry them carefully once a week – without using hot water

Good advice there.

Oh, and on my new hair stylist's advice, I am trying this on the ends of my hair: https://www.beautyplussalon.com/schwarzkopf-bc-bonacure-repair-rescue-sealed-ends-5-oz I had a good three inches lopped off the bottom of my hair, and some more layers put in at the front. I also got a lecture about washing my hair too frequently -- he said I should be co-washing every other day, and shampooing once a week. Once! I normally wash every other or every third day if I can squeak it that far. He said the co-washing will cleanse it enough during the week while maintaining moisture. The frizz I have, he says, is likely to be related to my frequent washing, which I didn't even think was that frequent.

Turns out co-washing was not what I thought it might be.

It can be exciting if you invite the right person to work the conditioner through. :P And the shower is big enough. (Don't ask me how I know.)

Alex actually co-washes already on the advice of his barber. Apparently it is very good for curly hair to keep the curl pattern. He is fine with it because it means he only has one thing in the shower he has to do with his hair. No need for 2-in-1 if you only need 1. He shampoos every other week with a tea tree oil shampoo.

I know 2 things, and I remember why I know one of them.

Mens and Womens hair are not the same and Men need to wash more frequently, quite why I do not recollect.

And you need to wait a day before washing your hair after a perm, a famous court case.

Yeah, I have heard that too about men's hair. He does the co-wash every time he takes a shower and it seems to work fine. His curls look sproingier for lack of a better word. I am willing to try it as an experiment but I am fully prepared to revert to my old routine if I feel too squicky about it. I read a bunch of articles recommending new cleansers, but my stylist said I'm fine using the Discipline conditioner I normally use. The trick is to massage it into the scalp for at least a minute, then spend at least a minute in cool water rinsing it out. Tomorrow is the first day I'm going to try it so fingers crossed.

Well let us know how it goes.

And yes occasionally I do pay attention.

It's a masterpiece of modern cinema! I went to see it at the Burbank 6 when it came out with the Jen(n)s and then my sister "forgot" to pick us up afterwards. I had to call my boyfriend to collect us and then I got an earful afterwards about the emptiness of pop culture. I made it up to him by agreeing to watch James Mason and Jennifer Jones in Madame Bovary with him on AMC or TCM. He was hardly one to talk because it's not like South Park isn't pop culture and he watched plenty of that.

I seem to mainly watch TCM, well apart from the Debates which are pure theatre.

Currently showing Gone with the Wind, wonder if that was considered Pop Culture at the time? I have tried to rationalise my taste and have come to no conclusion, there are films of a type that I though I would like and do not hold my attention and then others which do and I wonder why. Some I will watch again and some I will not. Some that will stick and some which will be a vague memory a week later.

GWTW used to be one of the mainstays of my repeated watchings as a kid -- I think a lot of that for me had to do with the costumes. That green sprigged dress Scarlett is wearing in the beginning with the Tarleton twins... heaven. But watching it as an adult it is highly problematic on issues of race, sexism, etc.

It was a film of its time and as long as it was honest to that and its sources then I see no issue.

There is very little that can not be dissected where there is a will, I watched Passengers recently, which I thought was OK, and that was made just a few years ago but could not help thinking its premise could be objected to.

Will there be a time when what seems to be a never ending combination of beauty products be looked at as wasteful and harmful?

Women are at the forefront of the fight against Climate Change, I have not seen a study about this sector but difficult to believe the contribution to global warming is not significant.

Depends on how much they fart, and whether indoors or out.
