Want to know if the annual income of 15.162.00(2006)

15.029.00(2005)

13.953.00(2004) of 2 household besides having around 8,000.00 as STOCK is enough and thus we need no cosponsor? ? IT 'd be better if i hear from ones who already got their visas.

Right off the top of my head I would say that is not enough. The income definitely isn't for any of the years you've mentioned. I don't know whether your assets would be enough to overcome the income deficiency but off the top of my head I would say no, since if memory serves assets can't be used on a 1:1 basis but must be multiplied in order to overcome income deficiencies.

I think you'll need a co-sponsor.

Are the incomes you're listing before or after taxes? The amount that matters is the salary before tax, and it seems a bit strange that someone's salary would be $15,162.00 instead of a rounder number.

I am not sure if stocks can be counted as assests or not. I believe the requirement is that money can be turned into cash within one year. If you are able to include the stocks of $8,000 and that is how much she would actually received if she cashed out, then even if the $15,000 USD salaray is you've given is before tax, then you would be okay without a co-sponsor. She will need to show roughly $6,000 of assests if her income is roughly $15,000 a year before tax.

The guideline she's supposed to meet is $17,112.50 a year before tax. Assests have to be three times or more the difference between her income and the required income.

Right off the top of my head I would say that is not enough. The income definitely isn't for any of the years you've mentioned. Assessts have to be 3 times the difference needed for spouses. Their difference is only about $2,000 if that's really her income before tax. So only about $6,000 is needed in assests. As long as the stocks can count as assessts, and can be converted to cash within one year and would equal $6,000 or more when in cash, then they're okay.

If your income is 13,000 and the poverty level is 17,500 then subtract 13,000 from 17,500 which gives you $4,500. You have to have three times that in assets, which is $13,500. This is just an example.

In your case you need almost $6,000 in assets. I don't know if a 401(k) can be used or not. Probably it can.

I believe I've heard of 401(k)s being used before. As long as she doesn't have restrictions on when and how she can cash it and as long as she wouldn't lose a lot of it by cashing it, it should be fine.

Hath - you haven't said whether or not the amounts you're giving are definitely before taxes. Ask your wife if the $15,000 is before or after taxes. The amount that counts is how much she earns before tax is taken out.

I won't be able to explain to you what I mean by asking whether the salary you've mentioned is before or after taxes if you don't already understand. Ask your wife the question and she will understand. I think in fact that your wife would be better suited to ask about this and understand the responses.

i found this post of hath is interesting . dont think his wife income of 15.162.98 is anough besides according to him his wife hourly wage is $10.50 ...i read and found this

2 $ 13.690 $ 17.113

so dont see hath s wife is over 13.690 ????

Above is a link to the current (2007) poverty guidelines. For a family of two you need to make an average of $17,112.50 per year (this includes the additional 25%). You are going to need a co-sponsor if your assests can not make up the difference.
