Ouch!

 

Well life is short and I think too short to get into peels. I will just watch with amusement.

 

I can well imagine that, we do get nice weather, just hit and miss, anyway turns out the wind blew a Semi over and blocked the road. So hopefully not too long before it opens.

Stay warm! And not ouchy at all to have a peel. There are some excellent at home kits too that give an almost salon-level peel. I have used the one by Drunk Elephant before with success.

 

I am inspired by all of this to start a beauty thread in Off Topic -- I am aware that some of the men on here (clearly not you) feel uncomfortable talking about these topics. :P

Al's not in Silicon Valley/tech directly but he works in a sector of finance that is "trying to create synergies" (lol) with the tech world. We're still young-ish (he turns 35 next month) and look pretty good, I think. He never really was vain or cared too much about what he looked like until he got to the Bay Area. He started working out more beyond just playing soccer/football on the weekends and even consented to me giving him a facial on more than one occasion when he was complaining about looking tired and old. (I'm pretty impressed it was more than one occasion!) And when my ex told him that he was looking "well-fed" he got paranoid that he was getting fat (he is not fat or even overweight). But it's true that there is a definite ageism at work in the tech world, and looking "old" is a real strike against you. I assume the same is true for Silicon Beach, down here.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
