I-864 Affidavit of Support. Recent tax year ?

I am currently refilling the i-864 to send in response to an RFE I received. They ask for the most recent tax year to be sent. Now does that mean I will need to wait for my wife to receive her tax returns for the 2019 year as we're in 2020? She just filled them so I am guessing they will take a few weeks to arrive, which is going to delay everything even more.

Tax returns are immediately available as they are generated by the taxpayer or tax preparer.  Tax transcripts, on the other hand, must be processed by the IRS, and can take weeks to be available.  Exactly, what did they ask for?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yes I need the tax transcript, which is what I meant to say. My deadline to send everything over is the 24th of February.

You can only file tax return for 2019 beginning Jan 27, 2020. So technically even if she filled the forms, it’s not filed.

2018 is the recent tax for now.

Yes, if you get the 2019 tax return transcript as well by that time, you can use that as well but not required.0

How many year tax returns  and W2s do you have to submit for joint sponsor?

I am not sure on joint sponsor requirements. But I would imagine it would be the same as if it was just one sponsor. The most recent tax year is mandatory. You can add in the other two previous years also if you like, but it is not mandatory. To be certain though, read the i-864 instructions and all the information you need will be there.
