Test driving a Volvo something something this afternoon. XC40? We need a car, I am quickly realizing. I've been making do with cycling to the supermarket but I would like to buy more than just a couple days of stuff at a time. I had a Mazda CX5 (I think) when we first moved down here as a rental, but I returned it last week. It felt a bit too big for what I want.

Canada has a lot more risk aversion, so when dumb people cause explosions/fires/etc. at stations, they're pretty quick to remedy. Sucks when you have to stand out there for a few minutes at -40 (C/F).

I was recently refueling at my local Costco.  Left the engine running, and an attendant came up and asked me to turn it off.  I complied, then asked, "Why can't my engine be on while refueling?"

 

His answer: "You might drop your cell phone and blow the whole place up."  
I looked him dead in the eyes for about 3 seconds, then suggested he use Google to discover how much BS that statement was, so that I didn't have to be the one to tell him so.  "Ya think so, huh?" he asked.  I just shook my head and moved on.
