Interview could go any way, they may not look at any materials you bring or give you any time for any explanation.

One example:

CO: Why are you planning to go to the US?

You: (your response)

CO: What do you do?

You: (your response)

CO: we cannot approve your visa. Thank you.
And they’ll close the window.

That’s it.

i suggest just apply for it if you really wanna apply, bring whatever documents you want to bring , just don’t overthink it.

Thank you for this :)

Nope. You are wrong. Babysitting is considered work and people have been denied because of it. There was a news report about this a few years ago. See below.

Thank you :)

Oops

Get a job and then apply.

It will be a short time visit while I'm preparing for my Student visa in Canada and school year will start in 8 months. the agency suggested not to get work, if I am not currently employed because if so, the immigration for Canada will ask a COE which the suppose company will only release after at least 1 year of working ( PH) and I will apply student visa in less than 2 months now (I guess that would be a problem) As of now my finances depend on my family business.

Sounds odd very odd, so what do you do for income.

Many qualified people are denied visas and less qualified people are given visas. It's mostly the consular officials intuition of what they make of an applicant's story. If it's not a chance it means that everyone with the same information and answers on a DS-160 form will be guaranteed a visa 100%..but you know that is far from the truth. Hence why it's a 50/50 chance.

You are only going to get chewed up by the posse  for saying there’s a high degree of luck in USA nonimmigrant visa applications particularly from low income countries.

If there was no luck involved how come back in the day in my country before biometrics were introduced, people could apply up to four times a month just by changing their names and passports but using the same applicant profile and after getting rejected say three times, get approved the fourth time? What changed? Only the name and passport.

What about my single parent 51 year old auntie who I invited to the USA nine years ago? Her income was about $100 a month, and her only child was an adult. She took along a personal bank statement with about $400 in it (I was financing the trip). She had no landed property or anything and had never been outside my developing economy home nation, no travel experience, working class. What ties to her home country did such a person have? Zilch. And yet they gave her a five year multiple entry visa and nine years later she’s still in the USA. 😂.

Those saying there’s no very significant element of luck for applicants from poor nations respectfully don’t know what they are talking about. I will likely get dragged royally for this, but those who know know. Consular officers for all their training get fooled a lot by applicants and two different consular officers interviewing the same applicant would arrive at different decisions. But there’s no luck involved?

But then what do I know, I am just a VJ newbie 😂😝😂

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

For the OP.  I understand this is hard.  You've been looking after your nephew for years and now that's being taken away.  I imagine you are sad.

Calgary Ab is definitely going to be a change for you from the PH.  Especially in winter. Lol!  I think once you've already been in school for a while, then applying for a tourist visa (there is a consulate in Calgary) may be best.  You'll have more ties to return to Canada than you do currently to the Philippines.
