Hey all, I don't make that many posts but I do read this page everyday, compulsively. We got our interview date in Bangkok for July 9th, 2007 at 8:30am. A little more notice would be nice but I am ecstatic. The process seemed to take forever but in hindsight, it went pretty quickly since our initial NOA1 on January 22, 2007. Wish us luck! Ken and Mintra

Hey Ken, I noticed that your interview was set about a month after packet three was sent in. How long did it take Mintra to get her police record back and how long did she have to wait to schedule her physical when she called to get one? The packet says it can take one to two weeks for police check so I am thinking of having Nutnisa send in packet saying it is ready to speed up the process. I saw that Mintra got shots on two different occasions. Is that part of visa process? Did that have to be done at on of the hospitals in BKK or Chiang Mai or can those be done at any hospital? Thank you for any advice you can provide, Douglas.

Douglas, she went and got her police check on May 18th on the same day that she got her first two shots. After she got her first two shots they made an appointment for her to get her second two shots on June 18th. It was a two step process and she did get sick from the shots. It took one week for us to get the police check back and then it was submitted with all the other Packet 3 forms on May 25th and they processed it on May 29th. She actually made the appointment for her shots and medical exam about two weeks in advance but you might be able to just go to the hospital as long as you have the proper forms. She had/will have all of her shots at the hospital in BKK. I think there is a list of approved hospitals on some website I saw but I didn't really look at any except the ones in BKK. I was told by someone that if your going to do your interview in BKK then it should be done at the hospital in BKK but I can't be sure. Just never really checked it. Mintra is from Lampang, by Chiang Mai, but she now lives in BKK. Mintra is still learning English and the forms were overwhelming her so I hired an attorney that practices in both the USA and Thailand. He has been a huge help for us and the girls in his office actually made the appointments, took her for the medical and police checks, and helped her fill out all the forms. I know what I told you isn't a huge help but we used an attorney. There is a guy on here that just had his interview on Monday, June 11th, in BKK and it was approved. He did all the forms on his own. His name is Alex and from San Francisco. If you want, I can send him a message and ask him to give you some information. Let me know and I'll help you anyway I can. Ken

Congrats! I know how you're feeling, we just got ours an its earlier than we expected! So odd to go from waiting to rushing :)

Isn't that the truth. Here I am thinking I'll have an interview date at the end of July or beginning of August and now I have less then 4 weeks to get everything, ship it to Thailand, and buy some plane tickets. Amazing but exciting at the same time. Ken

Congrats!!! We are also having our interview the Friday (6 July) before you, I will try to post everything that happens for us if you think it might help!

As for the medical there are two places in BKK

Bumrungrad Hospital (a very large hospital)

there is a clinic as well in a Seniors home.

The info is in the packet 3 materials

You do have to go to one of those approved hospitals and use an approved doctor.

The list is also available in the k-1 for Thai nationals sheet under packet 3 in the BKK embassy website

FYI Bumrungrad is where my boyfriend went it's a bit more than the other place but he said they were great. He doesn't read any English so I made his appt. online and chose the doctor right off of the list.

As for the shots you are subject to different shots dependent on your age (he also got sick)

Police check took about 2.5 weeks to get back and as far as I know they don't expedite anything.

GOOD LUCK!

Good luck on your interview. I'm flying to BKK on the 4th of July. I'm going to take Mintra to Hua Hin for a couple days before our interview. she's been stressed and needs the break. I thought the process was bad for me but since she isn't familiar with all the red tape I can only imagine what she thinks of the process. While your getting your visa approved we will be at the beach not being able to sleep. Ken

Congatulations. We are waiting for packet 3, which is due anytime. Question: To which address in the forms you filled out do they send packet 3? I remember I had to list all previous addresses, and her house registration, etc. I just want to make sure where to expect it.
