Got K1 visa today - petitioner's last name mispelled (used upper case I instead of lower case L) (merged)

Interview was 15th, issued Visa 17th, got it from post office today (20th)

 

His last name is mispelled on it - if his last name was WILSON (fake name) they put WIISON

Contact / email the consulate immediately. Let them know that they've made a mistake. Unfortunately, this is a common error. You'll have to return the passport and get a revised version of the visa. Hopefully you didn't book a ticket yet.

I emailed them, thank you. How long does it take for them to fix it and send it back?

They'll ask you to submit the passport. Then they'll take a couple of days to rerun the visa. Then they'll send it back to you. A week? maybe two? normally not more than that.

I learned the hard way, I hope YOU don't have to. Advice: learn, learn, learn.

November 6th, 2018 State ID Card Received, Applied for Global Entry - Feb 8,2019 Approved.

Are you talking about the time for them to respond to my email or for them to fix this once they have the passport?

I'm going to update this thread if anyone's curious or has a similar issue.

 

They replied to me today. Not sure if it's pretty much an auto email or if they started reviewing my case. They basically said my request is being reviewed and I will be provided with the necessary instructions once the review's done.

I emailed Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov last week about something (a typo on my issued visa - though I'm not sure if that's too relevant for this thread).

 

Today they told me they forwarded my email "to the visa unit for followup". I'm confused since I thought they were the visa unit...

 

If not, is there an email I can contact the visa unit from? Otherwise I guess I will just have to wait for them to contact me first.
