Well I've seen a lot of NVC people getting their interview dates today.  Here's hoping the IVU is working on DCF cases too and it's the beginning them ramping up the level of work they're doing.

Feel like I'm hanging in there by the tips of my fingers...

Here’s hoping. I’ve tossed around the idea of giving up and just sticking it out here at times but not sure I could do it. I want to go back so badly.

I do genuinely think that when we're all through this and we look back at it, it will seem like a drop in the bucket.  But it sure as he** doesn't feel like that at the moment.  I am worried that going to visit next week is going to actually make it feel worse, but I will just have to suck that up and it will totally be worth it to (very gently) hug my mom.

I understand where you are coming from. Give up and start living life again. There is enough holding us back right now without this shambles adding to it. Then the desires of my wife, hoping to go back and be close to her family, kick in and the weight of the situation returns.

I JUST GOT OUR LND!!!!!!!

A man phoned my husband's mobile from the embassy, but asked to speak to me and said that they had expedited our application and was calling to confirm that my husband had received the email with the case number.  He was very kind and helpful and pleasant, although he sounded tired.

There were appointment dates Tuesday and Thursday this week and next week and one on 1 October, but nothing else.  I booked his interview for 1 October and we've scheduled the medical for this Monday.  I haven't figured out how to go back and check for another interview date yet as he could take one earlier in the w/c 28th September if any become available but will look into it.

After work we will be powering through the DS-260 and double check we have all the docs we need for the interview.

Just for info, this is the text of the email:

To whom it may concern,

We would like to inform you that we have received your request and the case has been expedited. Please follow guidelines included in the Packet 3 Letter included.

Best,

Dear <husband's name>:

We are pleased to confirm that we have received an approved immigrant visa petition in your name.  Petition approval does not guarantee visa issuance.  IMPORTANT: In order to apply for the visa, you are required to complete the steps on our website at https://uk.usembassy.gov/howtoapplyIV .Make sure you have all of the documents listed on our website before you book your medical exam or visa interview.  Only the Embassy’s panel physician in London can conduct the medical. Disregard any references to sending documents to the National Visa Center (NVC).  As your application being processed by Embassy London, you must take your documents with you to your visa interview.   Only a consular officer can decide if you qualify for a visa, following your interview.  As we can’t guarantee an outcome by any set date, we caution you against resigning from work, giving up accommodation in the UK or making final travel plans unless you have received your passport containing a valid immigrant visa.  No expedited visa processing service is available.

Congratulations! Very pleased for you and your husband. To check for other available dates you just click “Change interview date” - that doesn’t commit you to giving up your slot until you confirm the change.

You may want to check how old your husband’s GP summary is. When I spoke with Visamedicals on the phone they stated that it shouldn’t be any older than a month.

Massive congrats. I hope they are starting to send the rest out. Surely there can’t be many of us left.

Have you ever heard of an attorney speeding up a family immigration case? A congressman has more clout and the agency has to answer Congressional inquiries within 3 days. And a perfectly acceptable answer is “Our colleagues at the NIV are working on it.”
