Well, back from holiday. There was a pile of post inside the door (including no less than 8 letters from HMRC about tax credits 🙄) but still no LND. Before I left I had reached out to my congresswoman, but they sent me a form to fill out giving my permission for them to contact USCIS on my behalf (despite me explaining numerous times that our petition is with the embassy) which I promptly sent back but have heard nothing. I’m not really expecting anything, just felt like I should be doing something.

Was really hoping the letter would be waiting for me when I got back. Pretty gutted. Here’s hoping this is the week for all of us still waiting...

Sorry to learn your LND wasnt waiting for you. Seems to be a wider issue in that a few are still waiting.

Hope you enjoyed your hols. Where did you go, USA? If you did, I bet it was a real wrench to come back. I want to do this the proper way and get my visa by the correct means. When my wife came to UK we could have gone the naughty way. We didnt. We did however have quite a wait to get her visa sorted out. Nowt new there then 😂😂😂

Turn in the basics at the first window. When you are with the interviewer at the second window, you will have the rest to pull out if needed. I think you will find that London won’t be overly inquisitive about the affidavit of support. They tend to glance at it and if it all looks okay, not discuss it much. On people with a joint sponsor, they may ask “how do you know this person?”

@Wuozopo you mentioned first and second window? Do they take the documents from you before you go into the interview???

The first window is where you give all your documents. The second window is where you’ll have your interview.

Interesting 🤔 For some reason I had it in my head that you go into someone’s office for the interview and hand over the paperwork at that time. How long does the appointment take in all? We have ours in a couple weeks.

I thought so too! The whole thing took me about 35 minutes and the interview itself lasted no more than 7 minutes. I wrote my review here:

Wow, thanks. That is really helpful!

It’s like standing at a teller at a bank or at the post office. There’s glass between you and the person. You sit and wait to be called up to one. That first person is just a clerical person gathering your documents. They don’t decide anything, so you don’t need to do any explaining to them really.  They will send you to pay a cashier the visa fee and bring back a receipt for the file. Then you sit again. The second time your number is called you go to another window like the first, but it will be an American who conducts your interview. It’s quite short and anybody in the vicinity can hear your “interview”.

sorry, I thought you were DCF. If you went through NVC, you already paid online so no cashier.

Thanks, when we filed in February I really thought we'd be there by now.  Waiting is hard, but waiting without really knowing what's actually going on and having no recourse is agonising.  Although I appreciate that (at least for the moment) my husband and I are still together in the same place.

Nah, not to the USA, alas.  Just to Norfolk to let the kids play on the beach.  We had a lovely time and I very intentionally tried not to think about this whole thing (and succeeded sometimes, hah). But now it's back to work and school and at the same time starting to try to pack what can be packed and sell what can be sold and get rid of a whole lot that we won't/don't need while still keeping things ticking over.  Now I'm back to anxiously awaiting to postie.  Good luck to everyone this week!

I understand and feel your pain.

We were Approved on June 29 and still await our (my) LND Number. We have sold our house (it went much quicker than we anticipated.....36 hours😳 😂 ) We are all packed and the stuff we want to ship is currently in storage. The wait goes on.....

We have now sold our house and have a temporary new home address, at my sisters place. Should this info be sent to the Visa Unit? If so, is this done by letter, email.....carrier pigeon😂 (just trying to stay sane)

Any guidance/advice on this?

I think it will be a case of getting in touch the normal way through Email contact as you've been doing. Hopefully as it's outside the norm of what everyone else has been asking it should get picked up easier rather than standard reply. Never know, It may prompt them to get your application out of the pile! You can also do a postal redirect for your mail just in case.

Sorry you guys are still waiting. I know it must be very frustrating.  All I can assume is there isn't any significant chronological order to it in absolute terms. Possibly perhaps  different cases are divided between different case workers, and the person you guys were assigned too isn't back at work yet. Its speculation of course, but when I was in the embassy I noticed very  few staff working there and a lot of empty desks.

Thanks. I will include our change of address in my daily email to them.

I think your suggestion of division of work and attendance is very plausible.

The concerning thing is when does "the" person get back to the office? As someone who has been at work since Day 1 and now wears a facemask daily (I work in a hospital) it is rather frustrating to hear about workers not being at work (which in itself may be ok) but are unable to work from home. Meanwhile I and many others see our lives just put on hold.😡😡😡

I guess its not straight forward when it comes to Embassy's  as its kind of a toss up between local and home situation. Given the building is a mixture of Americans on posting to the UK and local people working, it's hard to tell who's in and out, who's not in the UK, what countries rules they are going by etc. I mean all this is speculation, but I remember spending a good few minutes just staring behind the guy who was taking my documents (he couldn't find his stamp!) and there was hardly anyone in there.  Fingers crossed you guys will get your LND soon, I know it will happen and this will all seem like a distant memory, but I get the not knowing and waiting is kinda tough. Just think of the new level of patience you'll have after all this is done!

We did DCF. I am the USC sponsoring my husband. Am I allowed in with him?
