My understanding was that they only book up for the next 2 months. Ie they are booking Aug and September and won't open up dates for October until end of August. At least I thought I read that somewhere. I'm anxious for our LDN. Tomorrow marks 5 weeks since our 130 approval.

The booking up to 2 months is consistent with what I've seen too. Fingers crossed for LND numbers being sent out. I wonder if they will wait to offload the backload of NVC filers who are waiting for rescheduled interviews first. Time will tell I guess.

I may reach out next week if nothing comes in. Really hoping for late September for medical and interview in October.   :)

Great news today, really glad we have a date and a bit of some hope!

With a variety of visa types not being processed, am I the only one that is a bit optimistic it may be quicker than two months? Like yes, backlog but you have two different tracts here - LND and Visa Appts.

Maybe I’m being too optimistic myself. My approval came through 10 weeks ago, and my wife is in the US now. The idea of an interview in October is depressing to me 😕

Hey there.

Can anyone qualify whether we just have to prove immunity to Rubella or the whole shebang? Also, can we just get a T/D booster and leave out the Petussis if we had that in childhood? I have a call with my GP nurse this morning so need to know exactly what I should get.

Cheeeers x

Not sure what you are asking. You need evidence of immunization for all three—mumps, measles, rubella. The shot tends to be trivalent meaning 3 immunizations covered by one jab. If pregnant, then it can be waived because of the rubella component.

Yes to Td, if you had a pertussis jab as a baby. The visa clinic tends to let the pertussis part slide the last few years and sign off with just a Td. Not sure why because they were very strict with me because I had no record of pertussis anywhere on my record. They also used to have a Tdap tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis shot on their list that they could give you. Not any more, so maybe that’s why they let is slide and sign off.

In the UK they don’t have the same Td shots as the US, like Adacel. They will give you Revaxis which is tetanus, diphtheria, and polio. It covers the T and D so meets the requirement. The polio part is not needed but part of the Revaxis shot.

Just to add, I spoke to my practice nurse and although I haven't had a DT/P vaccine in 10 years, I have had all five which according the UK schedule gives lifetime immunity. Is there some discrepancy here?

You are meeting the requirements of the US so what your practice nurse advises could different from the US list. The US requires Td booster dated within the last 10 years so if you want to immigrate, that’s what you need.

I’m with you on that. Given I imagine 90% of visas are tourist/K1 etc I don’t think the backlog is going to be that bad. my opinion is yesterday we had no idea when they were beginning operations, today we know they are so at least we have that to move forward with. Roll on those LND numbers! Stay positive guys 👍🏼

Thank you so much for this! Really clears it up. I will try to convince the nurse to boost me on the TD.

I was kind of hoping for a miracle where I can get all this wrapped up by end of August. Is this totally mad? I am on 18 weeks now since approval 😭

Probably A little optimistic! I'm A pretty optimistic guy but that would be a stretch. But hey, never say never. It's probably going to be one of those things which is slow starting but picks up traction once it does.

I'm 18 weeks too. I think we were approved the same week (Mar 16th). Hold on in there - Our time will come.

Have you received your LDN number? If not, end of August may be difficult as you would still need to book the medical and interview. My understanding is they suggest having at least a week in between those 2 appointments to allow for the medical information to be sent to the embassy. I could be wrong, but that is my understanding. Fingers crossed for you though!

Good to know we haven’t been totally lost in the system. Thank you for levelling me out a little. I definitely go through ups and downs of totally chill about it and then like, ‘what the f****’.

Hi,

No, a referral letter won't be accepted unfortunately. Even if you have no active medical issues or medications, your GP should still be able to print off a Summary Care Record (SCR) for you. All patients registered at GPs around the UK have one - it is automatically generated from information that the practice has on file for you (even if you don't have any medical issues or have never seen the GP). If your GP is still confused about this, show them this link: https://digital.nhs.uk/services/summary-care-records-scr

Should the Summary Care Record be no older than X months? If so, how old is acceptable?

Good question. I did call Visa Medicals to ask this question and the woman at the desk said that ideally they want the Summary Care Record to be no older than a month old. I got the sense that there was some flexibility with this (especially in the current climate).

I hope so. Really don't want to bug hubby's GP for another one.

I guess then there is little point in requesting the document until in receipt of LDN. Will hold off. Perhaps next week all will become clearer (he said optimistically 😂) I'm not even sure if such a document is available from NHS Scotland.
