So disappointing, but it will happen for you. Did you try calling the DOS number and pleading for some information? Your letter could have landed in a letterbox down the street.

My wife wanted to give it one more week just because it seems our mail has finally started coming through with some kind of regularity now after basically getting next to nothing for 3 weeks.

if still not sign next week she’ll try the DOS.

So, did people put N/A and 0 in all the blanks you didn't use on the I-864? Because I'm doing it electronically and it doesn't allow me to put N/A in a lot of the boxes.  Do I need to handwrite it in after I've printed it?

And just for the record, I did not wait until 2 days before the interview to start doing this.  We are using Boundless and they have still not sent us any docs, despite us sending them all our supporting docs and info weeks ago.  There's a chance they will send it all to me tonight, but I'm obviously not just going to sit on my hands and hope for the best.  Sigh.  This is why people do it themselves, I know, I know.

Yup, we printed out the form and hand-wrote N/A for the blanks. There were a couple of fields where the electronic form wouldn't fit what we wanted to write, so we hand-wrote those too.

Good luck for the interview!

I am looking for a difinitive answer to the following query. Have searched all over but remain unclear.

I am trying to get to the bottom of i-864.

I receive a monthly pension from Ministry of Defence. The monthly pension x 12 does not meet the 125% Federal Poverty Guidelines. In order to make up the difference we have cash which are proceeds of our recent house sale in UK. There is more than sufficient cash to meet 3 x the shortfall between 125% and my annual pension income.

Can this be used to meet the i-864 requirement?

We would rather take this approach than use a Joint Sponsor.

Grateful for all guidance.

Although we have now decided (reluctantly) on a Joint Sponsor, I am still searching for a definitive answer to my query. I approached a UK Immigration Lawyer. They propose an hours consultation at £750 + vat to answer my query. How do they get away with this????

By all means levy a charge but at least be reasonable.

I’m uncertain why you want to use a UK immigration lawyer. Wouldn’t a US one be more helpful?

Apologies, I did not write my post very well. What I meant was a UK Based Immigration lawyer.

Either way, the cost involved does seem rather excessive. However, I am sure they would be able to justify it...........

I agree that the cost is high but that is the cost of lawyers, unfortunately. We actually paid thousands for ours but they were US based.

I can't help with your exact situation but I have some experience with the Joint Sponsor. Last time I applied we used my Father-in-law as a joint sponsor. My husband had just finished a phd program and had only started his post-doc position. We didn't have the full history of enough funds at the time. This process was pretty seamless and we didn't get any questions on it at the visa interview (in Paris). I hope that helps, it's really not a big pain.

For context: Long story short I held a green card from 2015-2017 then left the US to move to the UK (I'm an Irish citizen) because of my husbands job (US citizen). We applied through NVC and had my interview in Paris as we were living in France at the time. Because we were leaving for longer than 1 year with no (at the time) intention to return I officially abandoned my green card through the US embassy in London. We're moving back now because of hubbies job again. This time I will stay long enough to get my fricken' citizenship, I was 8 months shy when we moved last time!

Hubby had his medical today. Went off nice and easy (i sat at a nearby costa coffee while he was in there). They did make him get a shot though. :( 2 weeks and his interview. Can't wait.

Yes. I had my medical on Monday and I too had to get a shot😔. Had the choice to get it done at my GP or at the medical. For the sake of £40 thought it was best to get it done there and then.

Hired a car. Drove down on Sunday, 7 hours, Medical at 10.10 Monday. Drove home at around 12.30PM, 7 hours again. Stayed at the Mandeville Hotel (lovely) which was 2 minutes walk (around the corner, literally) from VisaMedical in Bentinck Mansions. NCP car park, Portman Square, was 10-15 minutes walk from hotel. Prebooked 6PM to 2.30PM - £13, which for London I thought was a bargain.

Now need to try and get an interview slot, hopefully the tailend of October, after 21st or early November🤞

Good luck everyone🙂

Nice. We set out at 5:30am today to get there in time for the appointment at 10:30. Parking ran us 40pounds! I was floored. For the interview, we are thinking of staying in a hotel near London instead of trying the drive in the morning again.

I understand there is a Travelodge close to the Embassy. SW8 1SJ London Vauxhall. No idea what it or the surrounds are like?
