Hi everybody, I was wondering if selling art pieces and having exhibitions in galleries is considered working. Some shops in the town I'm moving to want to sell prints of my artwork and a gallery wants to exhibit my paintings. Since I'm not allowed to work on a K1-visa I wonder if I have to wait with this until I have my work permit (EAD). And if this is considered working, will I also have to close my Etsy account? Just so I know what I can and cannot do once I move :-)

Not ambiguous at all.  All this would be as a self employed person and working in the US. You need and EAD

Choosing a K1 and than asking this question seems odd but anyhow K1 is authorised to work but does not have evidence but you do not need evidence. However that is only good for 90 days.

You obviously need to marry asap and then file and ask for EAD expedite.

This is all I wanted to know, thank you. Kinda what I expected, too. Just asking to make sure 😉

I know I can't actually work on the K1 Visa, I was just wondering how this would work exhibiting artwork, @Ontarkie gave me the answer I was looking for.

I'm actually not in the States yet, I have my K1 interview in February. And yes, I know the best thing to do is to get married asap after arrival in the US and apply for EAD, AP and Adjustment of Status. I have read about everything there is on this forum about the K1 fiance Visa 😁 I was just asking so I can kinda plan the 'not allowed to work' period. In this case just making art and not selling it until I have the EAD 😉

You have the answer you wanted so not sure what else there is to say.
