I'm leaning on the side of not changing my last name but I'm curious to know if you guys experienced any issues someone who did change their last name wouldn't OR alternatively, if you didn't experience any issues someone who did change their last name would!

I don’t think there are advantages or disadvantages either way, in terms of immigration.  Some have encountered  paperwork issues for alien spouses who change their name, when it comes to the GC/SS.  
 

I’m female and the USC petitioner, and I changed my name.  Honestly, getting my work to not require me to hand over my firstborn child was the biggest issue!  I have a professional licensure and a board certification that no longer matched, and they couldn’t deal with that, but the SSA and state board of nursing had no issue with it.  I ignored the auditors at work until they decided that, like every single other institution, they would accept my marriage certificate without photo ID.
 

I had my maiden name for nearly 50 years, so the biggest challenge has been trying to remember to write my new signature!

What issues might those be? Kept my name - changing it is a pretty archaic tradition in my book, but whatever floats your boat.

 

No issues at all and I can't even dream up any potential issues.

I didn't change my name either and the advantage I see is not having to update paperwork (SS card, DL and having a foreign passport with a maiden name). The only "issue" I encountered is that one time we were in a hotel and the room was in my husband's name. My key didn't work, he wasn't around, and the clerk only gave me a new key after speaking with him on the phone because my last name didn't match his, otherwise he would've just given me one right there. To me that's not a real issue, and would not consider changing my name over something like this. Now we're just more cautious and make sure my name shows up too! Oh, and sometimes people just assume and send us mail addressed to "the Smiths" or the classic "Mr and Mrs John Smith" 😜 but those aren't real issues, it's just annoying.
