Difficult relationship

Hello, my spouse finally got here. We have been together for 3 months here in USA, and we have had a lot of problems adjusting to each other. While we are trying to work it out, the longer the it lasts, the more I will have to pay in alimony/spousal support.

What can I do to protect my assets. I know I should have had a pre nup, but that is water under the bridge now, I am just wondering what people have done. I know this is not an immigration question, and this applies to any marriage, so please I am just looking for advise from all you experienced folks here.

I dont want to hurry into drastic steps, but the more I wait, the more I will lose financially.

That depends on so many things, like what state you are in and what kind of assets you are worried about. Keep careful documentation on where the money is coming from to maintain the assets. Keep money in separate accounts where possible to avoid commingling money earned after the marriage from before. All this is going to work against you if you decide to apply for AOS.

You also might want to talk to an immigration attorney and start collecting documentation to protect yourself from potential accusations of immigration fraud.

Also start marriage counseling if you can.
