Yet another accurate explanation of what the Elites don't comprehend.

Why Trump’s Dishwasher Diatribe Matters
I & I Editorial Board - January 16, 2020

The left had another apoplectic fit when President Donald Trump started talking about dishwashers at his Milwaukee rally this week.  How dare he focus on something so trivial when House Democrats are busy trying to remove him from office.

But Trump is on to something, and [...]

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

Personally? This is a silly article. I don't know what the issue is. Dishwashers are a luxury item, to me.. and always has been. And they have always never worked very well (since their invention actually!), and yes I have one for many years and never use it. Why? It's a water waster, noisy, expensive, cannot wash everything, and does not clean properly.

Over the years I've installed a lot of more energy efficient items in this house. Better oven with shabbat settings, energy efficient washer, one of the toilets got replaced and is more efficient and has a great amount of power compared to the old one upstairs. The heater is new now thankfully. My husband has replaced most of the bulbs with LEDs.. the only thing left is likely a new fridge and replacing the water heater (I opted for a retrofit in an emergency but the guy was trying to push a cost efficient upgraded model). We even replaced the shower heads. Granted the flow limiter was quite a bit of an annoyance, but that is a simple fix that anyone can remove if they enjoy greater pressure. Consistently the electric and water bills are down. I've not seen anything much to complain about with more energy efficient devices, and something tells me he doesn't either. He's likely never used a dishwasher in his life... and honestly, no one should. It's a useless item. I have never seen a dishwasher (older models that used about 10 gal per load vs newer 3-5 gal) that offered improvements over hand washing except for a few dollars in cost savings and time (though I digress here). Lot of people that use them these days still will pre-wash. It may be cheaper in the long run, but chances are you'll still be spending time having to clean spots and re-wash what it missed.

Unfortunately some of our friends read this article and think it's silly.  A dishwasher is a luxury item that we don't need and we really should do without.

Too bad they missed the point.  For me it's all about do gooders in government screwing things up to make something that worked OK more efficient and ending up with a product that is ultimately less efficinet and a pain to use.

My rant is with the common gas can.  Guess the EPA decided we needed special spouts.  Now the spouts don't work worth a damn.  Took a perfectly fine and simple product and made a mess of it.

I don't need anymore government help.

They did? Guess I missed that one.

My only dishwasher complaint is with the (lack of) regulation of builders. They didn't even put wire caps on when they installed ours. Just bare wire hanging there under the dishwasher waiting to burn the house down. The manager for the builder apologized profusely and said in (all seriousness) that it was probably the drywall guys who put it in. Lesson learned - if you want a house built right, don't build during a labor shortage.

As far as function, I remember back in the day we couldn't even turn the dishwasher on if we were watching movies or going to bed. I like how quiet they are nowadays. Ours does OK but you have to rinse anything more than crumbs first. Like everything else made nowadays, way too many electronic parts to last. Water and circuitry don't do well together. People will start getting to really know the repair guy again.

My dishwasher, usually only makes a lot of noise if she is mad

My wife never had one in Russia, so she wouldn't use ours for years. I convinced her we could just use it once after we had a lot of guests over and a pile of dishes up to the ceiling and she has never gone back. Now I have to ask her sometimes why we had the dishwasher on and there was only 4 dishes inside.

No, dishwashers have never worked OK since their invention. And if you have a problem with your current dishwasher, it has little to do with the gallon allowance inside.

Pretty much the same here.  When my wife first got here she looked at it and said "what is this?". Then she says "can we get rid of it?"

My wife will still hand wash if there are just a couple of items, but generally it all goes into the dish washer.

Last year her parents came and they insisted on hand washing everything to help us out.  I hated it because everything they washed felt greasy after.

No joke. If I wash the dishes, which I do when I mess up something, she generally re washes them, because I cant do it right

When I built our house so many years ago I accepted the "builders grade" GE dishwasher thinking since it's a GE it will be fine.  I got rid of it in less than a year.  Got a Kenmore that was a big improvement.  After my wife arrived and that Kenmore started to go south I did my research and ended up with an awesome Kitchenaid.  Cost more than the others but cleans so well and super quiet.  Just takes way too long.
