Does the 18 year old have latent TB infection or  ACTIVE TB disease?

There is a HUGE difference.  Lots of Asians will test positive for latent TB, but it never activates and becomes contagious.  My ex wife had latent TB and nothing special was done other than annual x-rays.

Active TB in a healthy 18 year old can be treated with long term meds with a good outcome.

Yes he is under treatment now. Was your ex an immigrant? Did they know about the latent TB yet allow her to come anyway?

She was in the US on a B2 visa when we met.  For AOS we needed a physical and she tested positive for the skin test.  X-Ray showed no problems.

Since it was latent nothing was done.  Although the clinic had to fill out some paperwork for the State, nothing ever was asked at the AOS interview.

but i have seen a CR1 visa revoked (morocco)

stated by another VJ member and stamped as such.  so if the people involved test positive ,  then what happens?   St Lukes does not inform the embassy?  what would the point be of all this?

Those are the questions and answers I am trying to address. Hoping someone here has some insight. We have already made the appointment for them to go back and be tested. we told slec that we would. So have they reported this to the embassy yet? Will they wait for a while to see if they come back and report if they don't? Is it electronically reported by computer or does an actual paper report have to be sent over?  I don't know. from what I understand, and it's not easy getting info, she was told to bring the visas when they come to get tested, they will issue the results, then she is supposed to take the results over to the embassy to be filed with her case.

I wonder what the liability issues are going on a Plane with potential transmission issues.

Yes it is active pulmonary TB. So do you know for sure that I can extend the other visas already issued?

Oh dear. EVERYONE in your family including you and contacts in the country you are in have to be treated. This is not something to take lightly. What country are you from? (reason I ask: Each county has different restrictions).

Active Pulmonary TB is highly infectious...meaning he or she is 'spewing' active M.tuberculosis in the air which people are breathing. If anyone also has a low immune system, this is even worse.

The Embassy will need evidence of treatment of you all. Anyone else can chime in here.

I may have misspoke here. I'm not sure that it's active TB. They saw it on his chest x-ray and did a sputum. None of the others had it. My fiance and the 16 year old both had chest x-rays and they were clear. The 14 yr old had an IGRA done and they found nothing.

Not sure is really not an answer I am afraid. I think you are missing the point. What did the sputum text show? If active TB and you are all living in the same house, then yeah, everyone has to get treated before coming here.

The CS will not sign the I-693 (medical) with any sort of active TB (testing positive for the skin test of x-ray would trigger the sputum, which is really the defining test).

If its latent TB they will sign it as its not a contagious issue.

So did you get a sputum test and is it positive?  Yes is not great, that means a 6 month course of antibiotics.  No means you are good to go.

Yes sputum test was positive

You said earlier you were not sure, not you say it is?

Again, everyone has to get treated according to CDC and Infectious Diseases Society of America guidelines.

Good luck

Wondering how this will affect the already issued visas if they need 6 months of treatment now? The visas are only good for 6 months.

If they get tested again and aren't TB positive, they won't need 6 months of treatment, so would be able to use their current visas.

If they get tested and are positive, surely it's better that they get treated, even if it takes 6 months and delays their immigration significantly...rather than them travelling to America with a disease that could kill them and many others? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would get it treated there for sure, just on the fact that the cost in the US will bankrupt you within the first month of them coming here. You're talking 6 months of antibiotics for what ...5 people. Better break out the no limit black card.
