Greetings. Prior to the NVC stage, what are the status updates one might see in the case tracker or myuscis.gov websites? I knew the process would be long so I tried to keep busy. I just downloaded the case tracker this morning and registered with the myuscis website and the latest status is just, "Case received on this date."

Are there any other update status I might see on the app/website besides status for: 1) RFI, 2) approval, 3) case transferred ? Thanks y'all!

Nope. You might see the "last updated" date change, but that's about it and could mean a multitude of things so it's not much help. The website sometimes also does not update at all. When our I130 was approved, we didn't get any email or website update. We had accounts on both egov.uscis and my.uscis, neither showed the approval we found out by calling and by mail, though egov eventually showed "case transferred to DoS". We've been approved since September and my.uscis actually still shows only "received"!

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

Yes it's what's considered the "old" case tracking website but you can still make an account on it. Our case is also CR1

Got it! i just registered for that one too and the status is the same.

When did you start calling for updates? After the normal processing period? I applied using a lawyer so I'm just afraid if they misplace or just haven't gotten to any paperwork they might have received.

I actually had also filed an I129f at the end of July, 5 months after filing I130, for a K3, as it was said back then that doing so would help speed up I130 processing but only for those at Nebraska service center, resulting in the I129f being denied and the I130 being approved expeditiously (within 1-2 months of filing I129f). This doesn't seem to be working for Nebraska filers anymore, but back then, I had gotten an email a month and a half later saying that my I129f was denied (since that usually would mean the accompanying I130 was approved), so I called the next day to ask about my I130 and they had told me it had been approved. You can, of course, call at any time during the process, but if your petition is still within processing time for your service center you probably won't get very many answers, except maybe if it has been touched or not, as that was info they were able to tell me a couple times (I called a LOT of times between I129f filing and I130 approval..)
