This might be interesting to many here.....especially the last sentence...."The airline has since apologized and said that it required tests to “ensure U.S. immigration laws were not ‘undermined,’ ” according to the Associated Press."

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

One of the funny "skits" that we have set up for patient sensitivity training revolves around never asking when the baby is due until you have first confirmed the patient is pregnant.

I have no issue with airlines having a policy to ensure immigration requirements are met and standardized, but any policy revolving around singling out people who "look" pregnant is asking for trouble.

This is outrageous.

Birth tourism is not illegal so I dont get how the airline can claim 'undermining immigration law'? And its up to CPB to determine entry- thats not something the airlines should get involved in past verifying you hold a visa; which is understandable if they are going to transport you across the world they should make sure you are able to be let in when you get there. But its totally unnecessary for them to also pre-screen you for pregnancy. There are tons of reasons why CBP would deny someone entry. Is the airline going to pre-screen for all the possible reasons?

It's the airlines code word for not wanting to have to deal with transporting people back to their point of origin when they are denied entry. Then they probably realized the cost of the negative publicity from a misguided policy was going to be a lot more than transporting a few denied passengers.

Really terrible. Pregnancy testing is not something an airline should be doing. Gross violation of privacy and it is not their business if she is pregnant or not. The CBP can determine enough about a person to deny entry. Essentially they gave her the test because what, she looked fat?

There is honestly nothing more insulting to me to be constantly tested for pregnancy.. last month I was tested four times in one week. And let me tell you by the fourth time I felt pretty hostile about it (aside from the insurance not being happy either). 😒

I made that mistake once in my late teens.

Once.

Knew a guy that went to a job interview. He asked the HR lady when she was due. She wasnt . He remained unemployed

I would rather see the airlines screening for people who should be made to purchase 2 seats to fit their fat butts........

Over Xmas a family member told me about how a woman came into the practice, stuck her hand on her stomach and asked when she was due. She is very badly diabetic and has bloating scar tissue of fat in her stomach from the long term injecting. She was flabbergasted. The woman thought it was hilarious though..

I said the best thing you can do is if you are offended just be a 'debbie downer'. Say something horrific to throw them off guard and make them feel stupid.
