There are very good guides located on this very web site which explain the procedure. You really need to do a lot of study.....or just hire a competent attorney.

Living together is crucial though. So is comingling finances. That's the most important evidence USCIS wants to see.

Right now we both live on campus in gender-separate dorms. How would that be received?

Does your university maybe offer family dorms for married couples/families? Some do. You may want to look into that perhaps
