Hi there,

I’m a bit surprised that it took you 1 year to have bio. Appt. How is your case right now? Did you have to show up for the in person interview?

I am still waiting. No movement after the fingerprinting. My 18 month extension expires in March, and I have scheduled for Info pass . Not sure if expired extension would trigger some action.

Hi Everyone! Glad to find a WAC thread. Here's our timeline:

Filed: 3/2/19

NOA/extension: 3/8/19

Bio: 5/7/19

After the bio appointment, nothing. Like others have also experienced, we too did not even get an update on our USCIS site to show that the fingerprints had been reviewed. It has just said "we received your case" from the beginning, with no updates.

Glad to hear we're not the only ones like that.

As were are approaching 1 year, I find myself thinking about it more and more!

Spoiler

12/18/2015- NOA 1

1/29/2016- NOA 2

2/18/2016- Letter from NVC saying they're forwarding to Guangzhou

3/4/2016- Received P3, returned it about a week later

3/22/2016- P4 email

5/12/16- Interview. Approved!

5/16/16- After a few days saying administrative processing, CEAC now says issued!

Additional snafu: my fiancé came over on his visa, but just a month later (and the day before we were going to get married) he had an emergency that necessitated him returning to China.  I contacted the Guangzhou consulate via their email system, provided the requested documents/proof, and he was granted a second interview for "reissuance."  He had to re-do the medical, redo the interview (bringing yet another copy of all of the things he had to bring the first time) and we were approved again!  He received what looked like a new visa in his passport, but the original 90 day countdown for marriage was still ticking.  He came back to the US and we got married right away!

8/22/16- Married!

AOS

9/30/16- Filed for AOS, EA, AP

10/6/16- NOA 1 for AOS, EA, and AP (USCIS case status website says case was received on October 4th)

11/9/16- Bio appointment

12/13/16- EA and AP approved!

no news... case status on website still says "fingerprint fee received..."

4/11/17- submitted online service request for case out of normal processing time (over 6 months)

5/2/17- USCIS website updated to "My card is being produced!"

5/10/17- Green Card received

ROC

3/2/19- Filed ROC

3/8/19- NOA/18mo extension received

5/7/19- Bio appointment

9/2/20- Interview scheduled for next month!

It often depends on if you check your status on the old or the new website. Some never receive any updates on either of them, most of us at least gets updates on the old one.

Its really frustrating how CSC takes so long more than other service centers. Filed my ROC a year now, and nothing has happened after recieving the extension letter and biometrics completed. I don't know if to file for my citizenship since my window has opened or just still wait for the ROC to complete. Any possitive answers will be appreciated if you had similar issue.

I'm contemplating on filing for citizenship when my N-400 window opens up. I don't have any hope that CSC will start processing cases faster anytime soon, so I'd basically just be wasting time not filing for citizenship.

It's depend on how fast is your local office to process combo applications. I'm from Seattle and I definitely recommend WA residents to wait for their I751 to get approved before filing the N400. Seattle office takes forever and many applicants who filed their i751 since 2016 are still waiting for a combo interview because their filed theN400 while their i751 was still pending.

Read other applicants experiences in YOUR area before moving with the citizenship. Do NOT relate to applicants who live in different States than yours. Local offices work differently. The CSC takes on average 14 to 16 months to approve the i751. That was our case. It was worth to wait specially being from Seattle. Now we are preparing our N400 application.

Good luck to you!!!

For some reason the old site still doesn't recognize my receipt number. Only the new site recognizes it.

Thanks Malauriea. But hope there is no specific time frame to file for citizenship if I should decide to wait for the I-751 to get approved first.

Wondering why CSC is taking that so long to process I-751. They should have being among centers processing it faster since presumably the state supports immigrants.

Looks like CSC picked up some speed. I've been monitoring the processing times of CSC and I see a sudden spark in there. Current processing time range dropped to 15 months - 20.5 months from earlier 17 months -23 months.

There is no timeframe to file for citizenship after your window opens.  You can file while your i751 is still pending or wait to get it approved before filing citizenship. Once your i751 is approved, you can apply for citizenship anytime or maybe not, or in 10 years...there is no time requirement.

If applicants in your areas are getting combo interviews and the N400 is not delaying their i751, you could probably pursue that path. Reach out to them and inquire about their experiences to have a better idea.

filed I751  2/2018

NOA letter received  2/2018

18mo extension letter received 7/2018

never received notice for biometrics

filed N400 5/2019

N400 biometrics 5/2019

N400 interview scheduled 12/2019

N400 interview in 1/2020

N400 passed at interview, but I751 was not adjudicated at the same time (despite the case being there in front of the IO)

currently stuck in limbo waiting with no updates online (still on "we scheduled your interview")

I751 is now out of normal processing time. Inquiry gives me a useless response of "we're still working on your case"
