After Biometrics / Wait Time?

Hi all! Just looking for someone general understanding on timing for the process. N-400 was submitted in October and biometrics were done in November. Online, it says estimated complete date June 2020 and wait time (as of today) 4 months.

What all will happen next? I understand it sounds like we will get a letter with an appointment? Are the appointments usually scheduled close to the date the letter is sent?

Our birthdays are towards the end of April and we always celebrate abroad at my husband's home country with a two week trip. I'm worried the timing is going to cut it too close because while it says case completed June 2020, it also just says 4 months for action. Anyone know anything about how accurate the timing is online and just more clarity on what will happen next?

Thank you!

My very uninformed  view is that this year, you need to celebrate your birthdays here in the USA. I understand this is a family ritual, but  unless you are prepared to eat the costs of air fare and other expenses if you are called for interview in the period you would be away, you don’t need the stress worrying if you are going to be given an appointment time that conflicts with the trip.

Or book refundable tickets. Which are often prohibitively expensive.

I am not quite sure about those estimations. Online I still see estimated completion for September, although I already have an interview next week. (I sure hope they don't take 8 months to schedule my oath, lol)

I got my interview letter a month before the date of the interview. And IIRC they have to schedule your oath within 120 days after your interview.

This was my husband's Timeline from a year earlier.  As you can see, we applied in September 2018 and the interview wasn't until June 7, 2019 and swearing in wasn't until July 25, 2019.  Personally, I'd make the trip to Costa Rica for Semana Santa.  You will receive the interview letter about a month before the interview.

My husband will be in Manuel Antonio for Semana Santa.  We are looking forward to the May 26 legalization of same-sex marriages in Costa Rica, and I will apply for Costa Rican citizenship.  I met with my lawyer in Costa Rica last week and was pleasantly surprised to learn that all the days I've spent in Costa Rica as a tourist count toward my year of residency in Costa Rica, so I can obtain Costa Rican citizenship without ever having been a legal resident.  Something you may want to think about down the road after your husband becomes a US citizen.  It's only fair, after all, that you should get citizenship in his home country after he gets citizenship in yours.  Lol

 Love this! Thank you!

We booked on Southwest so just in case something happens... we can use the funds in the future for a trip later in the year. Win win!  Thank you for sharing your experience and process.

AWESOME about the Costa Rican residency. I actually would really like to look into that. I have been there a ton since 2013 and that is excellent to know that time counts as residency! Is your lawyer taking new clients? I would actually love to get in touch with them if possible as that is our definitely plan, my turn next. :)

Thanks for your advice! We booked on Southwest so can change if needed. It has been five years of trying to find the balancing act of living our lives vs. putting our lives on hold for immigration, so far I think we've managed well so we definitely would like to go on the trip if it works out.

Thank you!

I submitted on Oct and completed biometrics on Nov too.

Below is my timeline. You can see when they sent the interview letter vs the interview day itself.

It also used to say case completion was May 2020 but I don't see that on my online account anymore.
