Documents needed for consular processing for parents

Hello,

I am planning to sponsor my parents (I130 followed by consular processing in India). I have a couple of questions:

1) What documents are needed at the consular processing stage? I would like to get them ready while I wait for the I130 to be approved.
2) My parents school leaving certificate is in their native language. How do I get them translated in English?

Please advise.

Generally what’s standard across most consulates is:

From each principal immigrant you’ll need:

 I-864 + evidence

birth certificate

Recent police certificate (From all countries lived longer than 12 months past the age of 16, and if not obtainable, why?)
court and prison records if applicable

military records if applicable

Recent US style passport biometric photos

depending in whether the case is DCF or standard, you need to upload documents to the NVC at the relevant time.

some consulates accept foreign language documentation, depends on the office. Translations can be done by someone who certifies they are capable of performing such a translation.

india could be different regarding some things, and as foreign policy changes in the US, so can the case requirements by the time they reach that stage.

Do you need a school leaving certificate?
