Hello,

I am getting ready to file for  the I-130 online and I know that I need to attach the marriage certificate as one of the evidences.  Our certificate is in spanish because we got married in Colombia. It is enough to have it translated, or it needs to be notarized and apostiled as well?

Thank you very much!

Chris

A careful read of the instructions will indicate that no where are the words "notarized " or "apostille " used

YMMV

You can self translate, get it translated by a company, or hire someone to do it for you. You don't have to get it certified, notarized, stamped, etc. unless it specifically asks for it.

I learned the hard way, I hope YOU don't have to. Advice: learn, learn, learn.

Thank you for your answer. Do I need to submit a copy the original marriage certificate (wich is in spanish) or just the english translation paper? Because by just having the certificate translated and not have it at least certified, I don't see how that paper would stand proof for a legal document.
