Married in UK, moving to US

Hi All,

I am looking to move to the US to be with my wife, who is am American citizen.

We got married in the UK, of which she had to apply for a UK Marriage Visitor Visa to do so. However, she is under the impression that she can't return to the UK for 6 months after the expiry of this Visa (which was September 2019).

Could anyone tell me if there are such restrictions on her returning to the UK to visit after the expiry of her UK Marriage Visitor Visa?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ben

I dont know if theres any iron clad "restrictions" but if she stayed for a long time on her marriage visitor visa and then is returning again after a short time it will be a red flag to a UK immigration officer and they will question she is in fact living here rather than being a tourist or whatever visa she decides to make her next entry on.

If no one else can guide you any better i would strongly suggest taking it up with a immgration solicitor.

Yes, it's a good advice to contact the immigration office. Regarding to the move, it's always a lot of nerves and a lot of stuff. We also move with our favorite furniture, which is dear to us as a memory. Previously, we had a deal only with the transport company (https://www.removalslondon.co.uk/), which was engaged in our moving and even packing things, so we didn't have to think about it. And now we are moving to another country and we need a company that transports containers from London to the United States. To be honest,  I wrote this story in case you know something about it.

We were married in July 2018 in Scotland. I flew home and submitted the CR1 application. I flew back to see my husband and he flew here in October and again for Christmas. His visa finally arrived in February. He was sent to secondary screening and simply explained we had a visa in process and he carried proof of employment, home and bank accounts in U.K. but was never asked for those. When I entered U.K. I was asked if I planned to remain and I explained we were waiting for him to move to USA and showed my return ticket. It was easy.
