Hi Everyone,

I will be visiting my fiancee next week and stay for about 10 days to help prep her for the upcoming interviews at the CFO and US Embassy.  I have several questions that have been answered many times, but paranoia is starting to set in and I want to confirm what I researched since I've seen conflicting answers over the past couple of years.

I-134 Related Questions:

1.)  If my income is well above the poverty, can I put zero for each of these?

  • Balance of Savings/Checking Accounts
  • Value of Personal Property
  • Market Value of Stocks/Bonds

Me:  I believe so, but want to check again with the community

2.)  How necessary is it to provide my Real Estate Information if my income is above the poverty line? If needed, what supporting documents do you provide for it?

Me:  Probably will ill it out and provide my latest mortgage statement unless told otherwise

3.)  For the US Embassy interview, does my fiancee need the original "wet" copy of the I-134 Form or a "scanned" printed copy of the original will suffice?

Me:  A scanned copy should be accepted in this day and age.  I like to hold onto originals.  Please confirm.

4.)  List of Supporting Documents - Do I need anything else?

  • Letter of Employment stating my Salary and Position
  • My "Main" Checking Account - Statement from officer stating the data account was opened, total amount deposited in 2019, and present balance (Will this cause a conflict if I put zero in my first question?)
  • 2018 Tax Transcript
  • 2018 W-2
  • Past 3 Recent Paychecks
  • Most recent Mortgage Statement (Depends on answer to question #2)

Me:  I have a handful or so checking and savings accounts across multiple banks.  I rather not provide statements for all of them so I just provided them a statement based on the checking account that my paycheck deposits into.  Hope that is good enough

Other Questions:

5.)  How long does it take to get NBI Clearance?  Can it be completed within a week?

6.)  I read that you need a total of 4 Passport Photos.  Is that correct or do I need more?

Again, thank you so much for the support!  Trying my best to follow through will all this paperwork.  I appreciate all the helpful responses I've received from this community since I started this process.

  • Balance of Savings/Checking Accounts
  • Value of Personal Property
  • Market Value of Stocks/Bonds

Me:  I believe so, but want to check again with the community

2.)  How necessary is it to provide my Real Estate Information if my income is above the poverty line? If needed, what supporting documents do you provide for it?  NOT NECESSARY AT ALL.

Me:  Probably will ill it out and provide my latest mortgage statement unless told otherwise

3.)  For the US Embassy interview, does my fiancee need the original "wet" copy of the I-134 Form or a "scanned" printed copy of the original will suffice?  NO.  YOU CAN EMAIL A SCANNED COPY.

Me:  A scanned copy should be accepted in this day and age.  I like to hold onto originals.  Please confirm.

4.)  List of Supporting Documents - Do I need anything else?

  • Letter of Employment stating my Salary and Position  << NOT NECESSARY UNLESS YOU ARE NOT A NEW EMPLOYEE
  • My "Main" Checking Account - Statement from officer stating the data account was opened, total amount deposited in 2019, and present balance (Will this cause a conflict if I put zero in my first question?)
  • 2018 Tax Transcript
  • 2018 W-2

Other Questions:

5.)  How long does it take to get NBI Clearance?  Can it be completed within a week?  IF THERE ARE NO NAMING ISSUES OR SUCH NORMALLY THE NBI CAN BE RECEIVED WITHIN A WEEK.  MY WIFE HAD A "SAME NAME" ISSUE, HERS TOOK TWO WEEKS

6.)  I read that you need a total of 4 Passport Photos.  Is that correct or do I need more?   EMBASSY STATES 3.  SLEC COLLECTS 4 OF WHICH THEY FORWARD 3 TO THE EMBASSY FOR THE INTERVIEW.

Sorry If I'm hijacking. I know the 3yo child does not need to attend the CFO, but does she need a sticker?

Every one needs a sticker,  for a child under 12 they need to register and of course pay the fee, but do not have to attend the pdos seminar

Yes she will need a sticker.  All that is needed is to register the child to get the sticker ..  after you have her passport with visa

My wife interviewed in Feb. 2019. We just took the Tax transcript for the last three years because that was what was in vogue at the time. They did not ask to see the transcripts or the I-134. There is a good chance they will not ask you either. If your income is enough there is no reason to worry about accounts and real estate, etc. Good Luck!

Finally done...

When I had my interview they did not asked for anything.  I assume they already reviewed the application even before the interview. But still there is no assurance that they will not ask for any related documents. Still be prepared.

The interview is very brief (5 minutes or less) .

Good luck to you!

Yep, they didn't ask me either but I brought it just in case. One thing I learned from the Marines is to prepare for everything just in case
