I work for one of the major Banks and they did not asked me to verify citizenship, they just asked for original SSN card

That's not common. The vast majority of organizations require verification of citizenship &/or authorization to work in the USA (for those who aren't citizens). It's a pretty standard thing.

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

Officially a U.S. Citizen!

isn’t ssn card a proof of authorization for work? they just need to check the name and number and then a proof of identity like your drivers license to see your id with photo matches your name in the ssn card, that’s if you don’t show a us passport. Proof of citizenship should not be a requirement... not everyone that works in this country is a citizen

Sounds unbelievable that somebody is a citizen in this country but can not prove that due to his passport being late. That is true in order to get ID from DMV you need to give the paperwork such as SSN , prove your status in country etc , Moreover once you obtain the green card , the SSN card should be updated meaning if you were previously here on Visa, did not have status the SSN's will not have wuotes /  Valid for work only .

I think you don’t get the point! Have you ever apply To a job? Do you know existence of e-verify? It’s easy to judge or take bs behind of a screen is not hard to do a copy paste seriously look how e verify works?? Most of the employers in  Los Angeles use this.... you can google it or YouTube a quick video of the process... it’s easy to judge behind of a screen and talk BS

SS card and driver's license can be used for I-9, unless for some reason you haven't had the restrictions on the SS card removed. That's the only think I can think of. Just my 2 cents...No judgment here.

Does anyone here read what's written on I-9?

Well, here you go so everyone will be aware what type of identification is acceptable or not. At the end of the day, employer cannot discriminate you just because you don't have green card, passport card, US passport or CON.

ANTI-DISCRIMINATION NOTICE: It is illegal to discriminate against work-authorized individuals. Employers CANNOT specify which document(s) an
employee may present to establish employment authorization and identity. The refusal to hire or continue to employ an individual because the
documentation presented has a future expiration date may also constitute illegal discrimination.

They shouldn't judge you because you're definitely correct, people should learn to research and read, specially for immigrant like us.

just great.....

you will experience significant delays of several months to receive your U.S. passport and the return of your citizenship evidence documents (such as birth certificates or naturalization certificates). Unless you have a life-or-death emergency

Considering the State Department is processing visas at the NVC, and quite rapidly as some have reported, it seems likely that passport application processing is stopped to discourage people from traveling.

They list conflicting reasons on the website.

First they say its because people shouldn't be traveling.

Then they say it's because of limited staff.

So it's hard to know.

Because of public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have extremely limited U.S. passport operations.

Because we have limited staff due to COVID-19, if you applied on or before March 19, you will experience significant delays of several months to receive your passport and the return of your citizenship evidence documents. If you received a letter from us requesting additional information to process your passport application, you may mail your response to the address in the letter. Expect significant processing delays.

Unfortunately we did not pay for EXPEDITED service, on March 10th when we applied for the passport.

We were ALMOST totally done, too.

Now, no passport and no naturalization certificate for months more now.

Oh well...it is what it is. SMH.

Be safe out there, everybody.

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.
