I applied 3/20 and it was recieved 3/24. i had a tracking number and was able to look up status up until last week etc. Now I get this:

Application Status: Not Found

We did not find a record of an active passport application for you in our system.

It is currently taking 7-10 business days for applications to enter the passport application tracking system.

🤐

That's a disturbing regression. It could just be a technical issue, i.e. the real-time status check is suspended temporarily. It is really hard to overestimate the turmoil and complete confusion the federal government is in on every level. Just look at the FDA, CDC, IRS, SBA, USCIS, etc.. Crises (and stress tests) usually uncover the real structural issues within a system and now we are witnessing the belly of the beast and it's not pretty. :(

Unfortunately not but I don’t think it would have made a difference.

Indeed,  a total mess. Which is no surprise (for many obvious reasons).

I just checked and it says "in progress" - so maybe yes, it was just a momentary technical glitch. Not that it likely makes much difference - nobody is processing these applications...they are sitting idle somewhere....

Nobody will ask you to verify citizenship , what are you talking about , sounds like a excuse to me not to get a job , to be honest !

Have you ever heard of e-verify? Lol. Idk where you live ?
I’ll give you a quick shortcut and one of the requirements is proof of citizenship! PASSPORT BIRTH CERTIFICATE GREEN-CARD OR   EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION regular state ID are not accepted

WHAT IS E-Verify

On average 1,500 buinesses sign up every week, over 870,000 employers use E-verify, works for everyone

E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information entered by an employer from an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to confirm employment eligibility.

It can be verified by SSN , I do not think any of the employer would give you trouble about this especially during the pandemic crisis plus you can always give the copy of your naturalization certificate . But to say that you can not apply for a job because your passport is not ready is simply funny !

I think you don’t get the point! Have you ever apply To a job? Do you know existence of e-verify? It’s easy to judge or take bs behind of a screen is not hard to do a copy paste seriously look how e verify works?? Most of the employers in  Los Angeles use this.... you can google it or YouTube a quick video of the process... it’s easy to judge behind of a screen and talk BS

Does showing a copy of your naturalization certificate count? Or they need to see the original document?

I hadn't really thought of the I-9/E-verify situation for anyone trying to get a new job post-citizenship but I see it could be a problem now if one doesn't have a passport...

Any reputable employer will ask/require the prospective employee to demonstrate they are authorized to work in the USA.
