Been waiting for 19 days now since I received my passport, certificate still not showing up, needed it on Tuesday... is it lost? Or still in the normal waiting time?

Totally within normal time, some get sooner but many get it in 3-4 weeks, a few even longer

curious what you needed it for that a passport didn’t suffice

Thanks SusieQQQ, yes I thought all the while that I won't use that certificate anymore because I have a US passport and card now, but as I said I needed it for an easy access to travel and visit my former home country from time to time.  It is one of their requirements....

Yeah the only times I will need the naturalization certificate is when I apply for a new Swedish passport, they require proof of when I became a US citizen, because up until 2001 you lost your Swedish citizenship if you became a citizen of another country. So the US passport is not enough proof as it doesn't show which date I became a citizen.

I definitely think it depends on which passport agency processes your application, yes. My application was with the Boston Passport Agency and I got my certificate back 2 business days after I received my passport. This while I have seen others in Facebook groups wait for 2 months before they got their certificate back.

i guess they proceed your application with expedited service.

Referring to the previous discussion in this thread, expedited service is speeding up process between when you're applying for your passport and when it gets status "in process". The actual time between "in process" and "approved" would be the same for both regular and expedited applications. So you can see that it took 2 weeks to get that "in process" status for me, when for applications with " expedited" servise it takes a couple of days now. I think I just got lucky with the processing location. They probably just reopened it cuz I couldn't find anyone with locators staring with 75.

I have expedited, and it took 1.5 weeks for me from applying to go to "in process".

I think there's probably some element of luck in it all, in addition to expedited vs regular.

On Wednesday I emailed my congressman to see if he can do anything as I had a very important trip popped up out of nowhere on September, 9th. They responded back on Thursday and today I received a phone call from Western Passport Agency in regards to my application and if I can provide my card details to upgrade my application to expedited one. I was promised that my application will be looked at as soon as the charge go through.  Five minutes later after we ended conversation, money was taken from my bank account. Will update you on further deets.

Did you have to provide proof of airline ticket to the congressman's office?

tu2008: I think it really depends on your own representative. Some of them do ask of you to provide proof of travel plans while others do not ask for anything. Most of what I have seen at least on this website that they usually do ask of a proof of plans. It makes their job easier with the agency. I hope that helps!
