We are planning a trip to Canada over the long weekend (Labor Day). Is there any way we could expedite our passport application? If yes, does anyone know the process?

Yes. You still need a negative covid test 72 hours before arrival, to have proof of full vaccination (14 days need to have passed by from the second dose) and download the ArriveCAN app and fill it out accordingly before undertaking the journey.

My status changed from approved, to shipped, and back to approved all within 1 hour. I would've missed the shipped status if it wasn't for the email update. 😄 It was late at night, I think it physically shipped the day after. All the status updates happened on a Wednesday, so the passport likely shipped on the Thursday, and I had the passport in hand on Saturday. Very quick. Shipped from Arkansas to Los Angeles.

I just came back from Canada!

I spent a last weekend over my friend's house with my kids!

So to go there you need

1 To be fully vaccinated and be 14 days after your second shot, (or 14 days after she only one shot of J&J)

Must be US resident or us citizen and must begin your trip from the US

3 Everyone in the car besides kids 0-12 must be vaccinated

4 To have a vaccination record card for everyone who's older than 12

5 Download a Canadian app called arriveCan and book a specific border and specific time that you will arrive at and to get a confirmation code from that app (the officer did check on my confirmation and my vaccination record card)

To have a negative test from the State that didn't pass 72 hours on the moment you are at the border (I called US border before we left, the US officer confirmed that there is no need for the test to come back home, there is only need when enter the US through the airport)

That's pretty much it

Enjoy your trip and let me know if you have any other questions

And another thing, kids 5 year old and older also must have a negative test, they really check on it

My friend got that status on Thursday somewhere back in June and got her passport on Saturday same week, then almost 5 weeks later she got her certificate back

Funnily enough the email updates didn't work at all for me. I think @SusieQQQ had the same issue. Glad they are working for some though!

So, mine did the same thing: changed from Approved, to Shipped, then back to Approved. Thankfully I saved the tracking number before it changed back to Approved. Tracking isn't working yet, but when it does I'll update here with which city it shipped from.

I clearly missed the brief “shipping” change as I only ever saw approved on my daughter’s. I didn’t get a tracking number but I could follow it via the page on usps informed delivery that tells you which packages are coming soon.

Fwiw, we are still waiting for her naturalization certificate to be returned, it’s about 3 weeks now. Not panicking because I’ve seen it take longer for others.

Seems like that’s what’s going to happen with me because I didn’t get an email whenever it changed from unavailable to in process.
