It is not lost... It happens routinely with the USPS tracking system and you will soon see it for yourself that the passport is very close by your town and maybe even delivered at your mail box. I would not worry about it because it is a matter of days, maybe hours.

Ha! This turned out to be correct. They just hadn’t scanned it on the way. I checked again when I got to the post office before I went in, to discover that since I left home it had since been scanned in at the post office and out again 11 minutes later! and it beat me home.  Lol.  Really weird that none of the usual scans (the local regional office usually gets an in and an out before ot gets to my little town) took place but oh well, it only ended up being half a day late in the end.

So…that is really the final step for our family’s immigration process. Started as a family petition in 2008 (for which we would still be waiting and hoping to be current next month!!) and sped up through the luck of being selected for DV2013.

That's happened to me multiple times with USPS tracking, it seems like it'll scan from the departure location, then nothing, then boom out for delivery in my town. It seems like maybe it's moving so quickly between locations they just don't bother with the in between scans sometimes.

Yay! Congrats on finally be finished with everything! Did you get the new redesigned passport with the card-like bio page or the old one with the floppy pages?

I didn’t really inspect it closely tbh and now my daughter has it …I’ll check later.

By the way: other than an email to say in process a couple of days after the site updated to say that, there was not a single email update. No emails to say approved or issued or mailed. Just my daily site check haha.

I wondered about that! I put my email in for updates and have not received anything so far. So much for that tool I guess. Better just check in daily each time it seems.

@SusieQQQ Actually now that you have mentioned that this is your final step, I am feeling a little reflective perplexed that I am also at the same step.

We were married over 13 years before we decided for me to adjust status; before then we were living in the UK, Middle East, Asia and never thought about ever staying in the US long enough to make it worth while to adjust. Them 5 years between submitting my AOS and (about) to receive my passport has gone by in a whirlwind. And even now, we firmly believe the US will not be our forever home - just makes it easier for both my wife and myself to have the same passport (better than my wife having to apply for a UK passport - cheers Brexit).

Edit: Now if Scotland were to vote for independence then I might go have a wee beer to celebrate and ponder if my wife would rather like a tartan passport

I have considered it… will see!

funny, I really wanted to move to Edinburgh as an alternative to the US. I absolutely love Scotland. But at the end of the day I couldn’t do those long dark winter nights with such early sunsets … I’d have to be a summer scot! US is definitely our forever home, but with regular travels.

Well, don't leave...you bring a lot to Visa Journey with your posts and advice. I always look out for your replies.

I grew up just outside Edinburgh and studied for my undergrad there. It was also the first place I took my then girlfriend, now wife, on our first overseas trip. A 13 hour journey just for the weekend to see a rugby game v  France 🙄 The immigration officer at Heathrow teased my wife when she explained that she was here "only for the weekend" to watch a game of rugby. "It would be kinder to just send you back home now"

I was only able to get tickets for the French section and watched as Scotland were hammered 31-0..."that was a cute game"...whaaat, time for you to go home!

2 years later, we were married and living just outside of Aberdeen. In the summer the sun doesn't set until after 10 at night then is back up at 4 in the morning.  And almost the opposite in the winter "serves us right for living in the tundra" she once told me.

Yup. Summer in Edinburgh is glorious. I was lucky enough to go there for work a few times as well as for vacation a few times - saw a bit of the rest of Scotland but not as much as I’d like - definitely one of my most favorite places. In summer 😂
