Should I be worried?  my spouse and I applied US passport in early July (first time and renewal).  however, only 1 of us is able to find the status on the website.  should I worry that application did not make to process center? thanks.

Did you apply regular? If so I wouldn’t worry, it’s still within the normal kind of times to show up as in process. Your applications may have been made at the same time but will be treated independently;  indeed as one is first and one is renewal, possibly even sent to different passport offices.

yes, regular because we are not in a hurry or plan to travel.   it is the renewal one that has not been cashed yet.

Sounds within normal timelines then, per the passport status page “It may take up to 6 weeks from the day you submit your application until your status is "In Process."

thanks.  the reason for worrying is because some people posted that passport processing center lost their applications and documents.

Seems like renewals are taking even longer than first time passports. I have seen tons of renewals taking 8-9 weeks (from application date to passport in hand) but not many first time passports.

They could have ended up at different processing centers too.

I went to USPS the same day as my oath ceremony and 7 days later on June 22, I got a notice that my application was received.

Exactly a month after, I got an email today stating that my application was approved. And another email immediately after that with the shipping info.986246136_ScreenShot2021-07-22at9_23_30AM.png.3d1212912720390cdde4709e53c6a1a1.png

And it looks like it was shipped out of Tucson, AZ, DOS Passport Services

Congratulations... Nice work... It looks like the process is moving perfectly fine for you and that they are doing a great job with how much pressure they have. I think there are many people with good positive stories but also many of them are silent readers. And yes, there are some here and there with complications I would add... Hopefully everyone will be taken care of with reasonable time!

House bill targets US passport backlog

Quote

Lawmakers introduced bipartisan legislation on Thursday that would require the Biden administration to submit a plan to eliminate the massive U.S. passport backlog.

The Passport Backlog Elimination Act was introduced by Democratic Reps. Gerry Connolly (Va.) and Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.) and GOP Reps. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) and Tim Burchett (Tenn.).

The bill focuses on staffing shortages at the State Department that have caused the passport backlog, requiring the agency to ensure processing time is six to eight weeks for applications and two to three weeks for expedited applications.

...

The legislation would give the State Department a 30-day deadline to submit a plan, which must then be implemented within one month. The State Department inspector general would also have to submit an audit on the effectiveness of the plan within six months of the bill's enactment.

Finally, an open door!   The U.S. Embassy in Thailand is granting us an emergency passport appointment this next week.  They can give us a passport that day.  I have been sweating this because I will lose about $1,300 in plane fares if we don't catch the flight.   In addition, my wife's job desperately needs her back and my little girl is starting school on August 10.  I don't know who in the US Embassy is helping us, but they are aware that the U.S. Passport Agency isn't functioning for many people.

I am very thankful to see this nightmare end!   It looks like lawmakers are well aware of the problems here and the system is addressing it.   This has been hell for us because my family has been trapped in Thailand without my daughter's passport.

After how long do we get our supporting documents back?

I received my passport with typo in name 14 days back but still waiting for my certificate of naturalization back, so I can apply for a new passport to fix the typo. Any idea after how long people are getting back their certificate of naturalization from the passport agency once they receive the passport? My the passport was expedited.

Give it at least 1 month... 14 days-waiting-period is not a long time for how much pressure they are going through!

I thought you knew about that as an option!
