Hey all. Add me to the club of people waiting to get their naturalization certificate back.

I received my passport on June 10th and have not received the certificate. I keep trying to call the passport service but it's just a busy signal. Very frustrating.

Just turned in ,my packet of copies to my congresswoman.  I called today, now they are saying 12 weeks for expedited service.

That’s what we were told when my daughter submitted, but that it breaks down to 6 weeks processing and 6 weeks USPS. The current message on the website is still “You requested expedited service when you applied, which we are currently processing within 6 weeks. Our processing times do not include mailing times, which could add 6 weeks to the door-to-door time.”.

when you call the passport service, quickly dial 1222 as soon as you hear the robot talking. try couple times. It worked for me.

I can promise you that's not six weeks in the hands of USPS.  They know the postal service just takes a few days.   They have changed the phone message you get when you call in to say 12 weeks.   When they were saying 6 weeks, they took 12 days from the time USPS delivered my stuff to them per the tracking to have it "received".  That didn't count toward my 6 weeks processing.    So they could approve it, take 2 weeks internally  to actually mail it and that would all be part of the "6 weeks" mailing.   I don't care how they account for it.   I need it and my congresswoman's caseworker is contacting them now.  I bet I have it in my hands before next Friday.   The moral of the story is don't wait until you actually plan travel before you try to get a passport.  If I could go back in time, I'd have applied for my daughter the day her adoption was done.

…and double checked what needed to be included in the application, as I recall that was where a big part of your delay came in.  Anyway, hopefully your congressperson will have the desired effect and get it done fast.

I guess the expedited makes a difference, as for my daughter it was 2 days from handing in at USPS to the passport website listing it as received.

Could you also and if you don't mind check your Passport status on their website to see if they update the website simultaneously with the updating email system? I heard that the website status lags, and I just want to confirm that...

I just received the email that says my application is approved and I should receive it on 07/11.

I applied on 06/07 at USPS for expedited processing and paid for express shipping for both outgoing and incoming mails.

I am glad it's ready, as I will be travelling at the end of July.

As far as double checking, I submitted the application at the court house, where they included everything they thought was needed.  They assured me in Feb when I flied that everything needed was included and I would get the passport.  I took them at their word since they had all my documents with the adoption taking place there.  You would figure that they knew what they were doing.   The passport website did list it as received in about 5 days on the website.  23 days later (took 7 days for the letter to reach me, so it was actually 30 days), they sent me a letter wanting more documentation.    I've read about horror stories where they still hadn't issued in months for an expedited passport.  The agency is in total disarray.  I called today to upgrade my shipping and the representative told me people are very angry and they can't really help anyone.  She was nice but said her job is miserable.  She emailed me a form that I sent back to pay the $17 for 2 day shipping.  I filled it out and emailed it back.  When do they process that form?  It's anybody's guess.  This agency just sucks.  Of course, Covid hasn't helped matters at all.

Imagine what a miserable job it would be to work that phone line at the Passport Agency.  Everyone you talk to has waited 2+ hours to speak with a representative and you can't really tell them anything at all.  Not a recipe for happy customer service.  As soon as you get rid of one desperate caller, you get another one.  This goes on for your entire shift.

I've worked for the same company for over 20 years. Various positions have involved "customer service" aspect whether it is internal customers (we have over 80,000 employees) or external customers. No one calls you to tell you that you're doing a great job or to say thank you.
