For what it's worth, I had a friend contact our congresswoman and she got her passports for her two kids in 4 days.   She only waited about 4 weeks before filing a request for assistance with the passport agency.   The reason she needed them?  A family vacation.  So it looks like that's the route to go if your passport is late.  Calling the number and waiting hours to talk to someone is just a waste of time.  Apparently they respond quickly once a congress member contacts them.

I’m still waiting. I’ve got my passport on June 24. I’ve spent 4h and 22min trying to call the National Passport Center but they finally answered. They told me that my Certificate was mailed out on June 29 and that I shouldn’t expect it for the next two to three weeks. Like #######?!? I understand that they’ve used the regular mail but Jesus Christ! How long does it take to ship from one part of the lower 48 states to another?!

I think the passport agency is being ultra cautious on USPS at present, like warning people regular mailing of passports could add 6 weeks to the process. My experience with other stuff is usps is definitely slower than it used to be but not like that. Of course they may also say that so that people don’t phone them every week …

I think it’s the combination of both—slower USPS under DeJoy and an attempt of the Passport Center to avoid people calling them. However, considering how important the Certificate is and how expensive it is to order a new one and how long it would take to do so, it would make sense to mail it with at least the tracking number 🤦‍♂️

I'm about to join this group. Trying to figure out how to get the expedited 72 hours appointment at the local government PP office. I can submit proof of travel. Problem is, there is no availability in Houston.

Called a few expedited PP agencies and was told even expedite is currently at 8 - 10 weeks.

USPS available appointment is a month from now.

The next available appointment at US embassy in my country is September 27th, more than a month after my would be scheduled return.

I'm all at odds here.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Is it a problem if the citizenship certificate is not signed by the applicant before the passport application is sent? Will they send it back?

What is the current realistic timeline that people are actually seeing on the ground for the regular processing of the application?  I know they say to you 12-18 weeks total (6 weeks in the mailing).  I read some recent experiences an it looks like that there is some big variations. What are your observations of when the status turns "in process" or "approved"?

Thanks

It might be an issue, my daughter had not signed hers and the usps agent made sure she did before she would send the application.
