Yeah we have seen several cases in N-400 groups on Facebook where it took close to 2 month to receive it back. Some passport agencies are fast while others are very slow, just like with USCIS' different service centers and field offices, the wait times vary greatly.

True, there’s no consistency. However, it’s kind of telling that the process is so bad that even a simple task of sending the evidence back to the applicant takes months.

You'd think that would be easiest and quickest part, yes.

After naturalization, my wife said “you must be relieved to not have to worry about your status anymore”

“actually, I’m now bored”

not sure what I’ll moan about once our passports are back…

Several months to get the Certificate back? That’s really messed up. However, considering the current state the USPS is in I won’t be surprised if they lost it somehow. 😕

I would just be relieved when I get those passports (book and card) in my hand.

Maybe several years down the road if I don't ever get the cert back, I'll pay the $ to get a replacement.
I figure saving about $25/month will get me there in 2 years 😁. Enough of a motivation to get anxiety out of my head.

On hold now for 3 hours.  At this point, I've got to speak to a manager.  The six weeks is up, where is my child's passport?

Finally got to speak to someone who does exactly what the rest of them do:  tell you nothing and try to get you off the line as soon as possible.   I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for 2 hours, then cut off.  Next Wednesday, when it's six weeks even according to their convoluted formula, I'm going with my congressman.

I dealt with these people during my younger daughter’s application (she also had a RFE), I think they are basically just a call center who can’t really see more than you see - I got the impression they had no idea what to answer and just gave me scripted answers.  Hoping you see some progress next week.

At this point, I'm placing it in my representative's hands.

It just stands for “request for evidence”. Why should that term somehow be copyrighted to uscis? How else should one refer to a letter that comes asking you to send more evidence of something?

Yes, I know what it stands for.   And no, they did not refer to it as a "Request for Evidence" in the letter they sent me.

Well call it whatever you want then, but uscis does not claim it as an official copyrighted term lol

It's just a matter of knowing what you are talking about.  If you say RFE, you are referring to a request from USCIS.  Their letter will even say "Request for Evidence".   You are the one deciding that this is an RFE, which it is not in the proper sense.  At least in my opinion.

Jeeeeez aren’t there more important things to get your knickers in a knot about? I made it clear it came from the passport agency. Go enjoy the rest of your 4th of July and chill a bit.
