I agree! 6 weeks for mailing is definitely too long. I have been calling at least twice a day and each agent tells me something different. Yesterday I was told that my passport is almost finished and I should be receiving it within a week, today they told me there is no way to find out where in the process it is and my best option is to keep looking for an urgent appointment 24/7 praying someone cancels. I don’t know how helpful the phone service is if they can’t give a straight answer or help clarifying the process. It’s sad we have to go through this really.

To anyone who is willing to listen, I have been telling that this puts a damper on the spirits of being naturalized and leaves a bitter taste :(

I hope yours will show up soon.

On a side note, I emailed the privacy release form to my senator. Two days and no response and no one responds to the phone calls. I will try the other senator tomorrow, I guess

I agree. It’s definitely not a great feeling to experience right after become citizens. I hope they do something soon to change this process! I contacted both senators, our congressman and they have been really supportive however the passport facility is not responding to their inquiries so they have been waiting as well 😥

Congratulations! I am glad your passport journey is done :)

Incredible!  I have applied 3/3/21.   They sent me a letter requesting more documents, which I sent 6 weeks ago.  Since then,  not a word.  I paid for expedited service as well.

This is what I get:

The U.S. Department of State has received your application for your passport book on 03/03/2021. We're now reviewing your application and supporting documents.

You requested expedited service when you applied, which we are currently processing in 4-6 weeks.

This is not cool. I am in a similar situation. I applied 4 weeks ago, and my check was cashed three weeks ago. But my online passport application status is still "Not Available." I think my online passport application status should change to "In Process" right after my check was cashed. Did they just cash my check and forget my application?

Did you pay for expedited service?   They didn't just cash your check.  Actually, cashing your check is a good sign.

I paid for expedited service. Today I received my passport. But my last name was spelled wrong, which is the reason my online status is "Not Available." My last name is fairly simple, only 3 letters, and they managed to spell it wrong ☹️ Now I have to send this passport back and wait for another 4-6 weeks with $60 for expedited service.

That's ridiculous of them.

I'm assuming the last name was accurate on the CoC and the application....

At this point, I'm thinking I'll have to get my Congressman involved.  I'm giving it another week.  Once they've had the 2nd batch of stuff I sent them for 6 weeks, then we are at war.   Maybe that's a bit over dramatic, but it's absolute ####### for service.

It is a good idea. Contact your Congressman and Senators. This is not acceptable.

I contacted my congressman today.   If I lose the plane tickets I bought when I relied on them telling me it would just be another week, it will cost me $1000.  We're dealing with bureaucrats who never miss a break or a holiday and don't have to answer to anyone for basic competence.

If it’s any consolation my husband’s was not available for like 4 weeks but then changed to issued just a few days after it moved to “in process”

Thank you. I got my passport. But my last name was spelled wrong, which is the reason my online status is still "Not Available". My last name contains only 3 letters, and they managed to spell it wrong, even though it was correctly spelled on my Certificate of Naturalization and passport application.

Good luck. But in the future, never trust these estimations, sadly.
