Hi All:

Just an update for my passport application.

Mailed at USPS on 05/14/2021 (expedited service)

Status changed to In Process on 05/19/2021

Check is being cashed out on 05/20/2021

BTW, DOS sent me an email indicating an application locator number, what is that used for exactly? is there a website that we can see which center is currently processing the passport by entering this locator number?

Thank you!

dang is not fair 😭😭😭, ur usps is more fast than mine, mmm u got lucky tho, 🎉

i just called US paspport and i requested to call me back, after 4 hours someone called me back, according to him my application is on Tuscon,

he also asked me that number for verification.

nothing he can do, he only mention to just wait for another 2 weeks, 😭😭

I am almost certain that it is not USPS, but the application being bounced around multiple locations before being processed. This accounts for the longer wait time before showing up as 'In process'. Please see my posts from yesterday on this topic...

😁 omg, i feel bad that i am accusing USPS for delaying the process. so, have u figure out why were they bouncing the application,,? and do u think, they will bounce around again while my application status in process.

i guess, this is the time i asked the congressman to get involve and i hope it works, 😁😁

ha ha... one way to find out is call the local USPS and talk to the passport clerk and find out when your application was delivered and where.

And then find out where you application is currently 'In Process'. One way to do this is to approach the Congressman/woman and you will get a call from the processing facility.

I don't think it will bounce around anymore after getting to 'In process'...

Applied on 5/17 (expedited & express 2 day delivery)

PA office received documents on 5/19

Application status changes to “in process” 5/20 (they sent me an email)

I will give you guys updates on my application. I hope I get my passport in 2 or 3 weeks. I bought plane tickets and I don’t even have a passport 😂

I actually called the USPS yesterday and the lady over the phone was annoyed lol...but all I wanted to know is whether the documents were mailed out or not. She told me there's no tracking number and I should wait for a few days to check the status. But after a few hours I received the email from DOS stating that they received my documents and it's currently in-process. Not sure if this had something to do to speed up the mailing process?

Did you tell them that you have a trip on 05/23? If you do have a flight booked, I still feel there's should be a way to have them speed up, especially the USPS delivery took so long for you.

i told him about my travel plan and then he said it's impossible to get it done on time. so, i can't do nothing, he couldn't either 😭😭 . unless if the congressman called 😁😁 it might be something,.

i contacted congressman and sent my casework to him today, so, i hope it will double expedite 🤪🤪.

when u called USPS, were u able to get the info where they send the application ?

No, the lady at USPS was annoyed by my call and just told me to wait a few days, plus she said no tracking number lol...whatever I asked she just referred me to passport center general number.

That's bad of them...

----

On a side note, I would say it's a waste of $35 when we have to send the original CoC and they don't even provide any info when called. In fact i would expect them (DOS and USPS combined) to claim more accountability by providing detailed tracking and timeline as soon as we have submitted our application at the USPS. For one of the more advanced countries in the world, this is unacceptable. That's my whining minute... 😒

My evidence came back (in perfect condition) from Sterling, VA. Is that the processing center where my application was approved? Is there a list of these centers anywhere?

Thanks! I didn't realize that the physical address is different form the mailing address. Sterling, VA is the Washington agency then. That makes sense, I'll update the spreadsheet accordingly.

No, they all say Sterling, VA. Mine was processed at the Boston Passport Agency but the address below Boston said Sterling, VA.

What does it say above the actual address on the envelope? That's the center your application was processed at.

I see! It says National Passport Center, so I'm guessing the one in NH?

I think I get it now, but the whole process is not easy to disentangle...

Agree, there is so much to be fixed to make it a simpler and more transparent process...

I'm glad you don't have to think about it for another 10 years though 😁
