Received an e-mail yesterday that my passport was approved. It was "In Process" for 8,5 weeks. In the e-mail they say that "You requested routine service when you applied, which we are currently processing in 6-8 weeks". I wish this information was posted in the website for everyone.

Hi, I looked at the passport application form and the bottom of Page 1 there's a "Stop! Continue to Page 2" section. I understand that we have to sign it in front of an officer, should we also leave the entire section blank including the identifying documents information and only fill it out in front of the officer as well?

I finally got the approval email just now. I applied from Oregon on 7/23, and trackable on 7/29. right around 2 months for the processing. It was processed at National Passport Center in New Hampshire. I actually got impatient last week and submitted a request to my senator (thanks @Giovanna024). I got an email from my senator's office yesterday indicating that somebody finally processing my application. Sure enough it's approved today. I'm glad this long journey is finally over. Now off to harassing USPS 😉

So, it was processing for 8 weeks, and will take another 6-8 weeks to actually get it? 😕
