Convincing evidence for LOW KEY MARRIAGE and financial support

Hi everyone, I really need your help about my special situation.

I and my husband got married this year without letting our both side parents known after 1 year dating. We just shared it with a few very closed friends. Besides our few closed friends, no one really knows we got married. The main reason is that our both side parents are very conservative. I and my husband are both 30 years old, and we truly love each other and the marriage decision is very serious after deeply discussing our future. The problem is that we do not have big proposal and official wedding. We are planning to do it after I moved to the US and then we tell everyone.

Our both side parents knows our relationship, and they just did not expect we should marry so "fast". My husband video calls my parents sometime, and I video call his family too.

For the evidence we are going to use:  flight tickets that my husband visited me (He took 10 hours flights to visit me at least 1 time every month since the last year), chatting record, (also chatting record with parents), wedding rings receipts, gift exchange receipts, joint bank account, the receipts that he transferred money to me frequently, photos of I and my husband, the two pets we both had in my husband's house.

We do not have evidence of photos of big family gathering or big wedding, no friends group pictures. I know it may sounds weird to you guys, but our marriage was adult decision and I do not know how much is the importance of parents support or evidence in USCIS or the local consular office.

Questions one: Is our situation/marriage going to be suspicious to the immigration officer in any of the CR 1 process? I am now waiting for the I-130 to be approved. Would they request more evidence to be submitted before approval ?  How will I answer if the officer asking me questions such as "why you do not have pictures with his family?" "Have you met his parents?" "why no big wedding?" during the interview? Could I just tell the truth that our parents are very conservative, and they prefer longer dating before marry?

Questions two: My husband has a decent job as a doctor and his income ( $100 K per year) has far away met the income requirement of USCIS . His job is a permanent and stable position, but he just started his job for one year. He has his tax return for one year. I do not know if we need a joint sponsor. If we do need a joint sponsor, then we are not able to ask from his parents. Do you guys think our situation need a joint sponsor? Where we could go if we need a joint sponsor except parents?

I am very anxious about my situation while waiting and I truly pray everyone good luck for application.

You're from Canada, so I doubt they will care about parents approval of your marriage. When the officer asks you those questions at the interview, just answer honestly. Not having a big wedding doesn't mean your relationship isn't real ... He has visited you many times, and time spent together is the best evidence you can provide. I still don't have my interview, but we didn't have a wedding either, we didn't send any pictures with friends and family, and no problems so far. I would just say relax, you have good evidence, and we all have different circumstances that make us do things the way we do.  You are overthinking in my opinion.

About your other question, you only need to upload at NVC the tax transcript from the most recent tax year. Submitting the last 3 is optional.

Thank you so much Iscir. I feel a lot better after hearing from your opinion. Both my husband and I know that we will eventually get our both side parents approval. But it just takes a little bit longer time. Meanwhile, everyone knows that the spouse visa is a super long process that can take up to 24 months from the beginning, and we may need to wait too many years to live together until we finally both get parents approval.  Thank you for understanding and encouragement. Good luck with your everything!

Mostly passport stamps, boarding  passes, only a few pictures, chat messages, but only one screenshot per month, some receipts to confirm dates and places we have been, etc.

O good, I'm doing almost the same, I know someone who got approved a few years back that did just that but I still get paranoid.

So I think the OP will be just fine then.

Your husband has a great job and salary, I would not worry about that at all and you surely don't need a sponsor if the tax return for that 1 year is at that salary.

I was paranoid at first too, but we have spend a lot of time together in person so we tried to show that, and I was advised here on this forum that time spent together is the best kind of evidence we can provide. Not everyone can get joint bank accounts or other things like that, and to me it doesn’t make much sense to have them when you’re not living together in the same country. So I think you will be fine too!

me and my wife also did the same just like you. her parents do not know that we are married and we are not planning to tell them yet. we didn't have a wedding nor of that. so we are planning to do so just like you, get married again once she arrives.

we have our interview January 28th. im traveling to be with her at the interview. i do not have much of evidence but my passport stamps of every visit ( every 3 months for the past 2 years ) mostly on special dates like birthdays, graduation, our anniversary ect.. we have been married for two years now soo we do have plenty of photos. some are saying to bring chat logs which to me is not possible because i clean my chat logs due to low phone memory, so hopefully phone calls log will do, we did write each other love letters every now and then, we have lots of movies tickets that we went, but our names are not on the paper which is useless. well who knows maybe my presence at the embassy myself with her will do. i will keep you posted how it all goes.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I will watch on your post to see how it goes. I am sure it will get much better for you to go to the interview with her in person, but it seems too sad that the US applicants now are not allowed to go to the interview in Canada😥 due to the small space of their consular office. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience, and good luck on your everything.

small space is normal

i think it may be on purpose / actually if they had a bigger space they could do more interview in a given day (unless they are like stores in the us with registers and no people to work them)

OP my husband and I dated for a month before meeting in person, and were engaged 2 weeks after that first meeting.  We married 4 months after our engagement.  Zero issues.  His family and friends was not at our wedding for several reasons.  No issues.
