Interview Experiences

Hi All,

I don't see one topic / section for folks to add their interview experience so thought I'd create one and see if we can get a group going for just interview experiences.

I've just applied in December and waiting for interview date.

For studying, I'm confident about the 100 questions, but what exactly needs to be applied for the verbal, written, and reading section? in the study material, they are just random words. How does this work?

Estimated time is June 2020

didn't understand what you mean by "read here your write and read the questions"

On Tablet like - do you mean that the 100 questions, and vocabulary testing will be done on a tablet/iPad?

They give you to read one of 100 question and to write it down the answer, also they ask you 6 question out of 100 for Civic Test.

They simply test your ability to read and write English for the reading and writing section. You read a short sentence then they tell you a  sentence to write. So you should practice your English if that's not something you're strong in.

  • 3 weeks later...

The actual test is really not hard. Know the 100 questions and I'm 99% sure you'll pass. I got 6 random questions. Than they gave me a very short and simple question to read back. And than I had to write the answer to that question on a tablet. That's it. It takes more time to go over the N400 (they do that after the test)

  1. I think they'll ask 10 questions out of the 100 civic questions and will stop at 6 if you got them all correct. You don't need a tablet for this. The IO will read these questions to you while s/he updates your progress on his/her screen.
  2. The reading test is just a short sentence which you will read from the tablet. Mine was "Do you know who can vote?"
  3. As for the written test, this is also randomize (I'd assume so since mine doesn't really answer to the above question) and you'd be writing it on the same tablet with a stylus. Mine was "Delaware was the first state".  You'd be requested to print it out/write legibly
  4. You'll also get asked the "Yes/No" questions on your application. Sometimes they'd stop and ask if you know the meaning of a certain word/phrase. My IO stopped at the last question something about natural disasters and asked if I understand what that means.
  5. Throughout your whole conversation with the IO, s/he will judge your ability to speak and understnd English - small talks won't hurt. My IO was really friendly and reassuring when I told him I was nervous.
