I almost always have one with me that is very thin (think: parachute material) which I can stuff in a handbag. If I go major shopping, I just bring bigger bags with me. I have thermal lined ones for when I know I need them. I'm not sure why BYOB is so controversial. It's seriously not difficult. And yes, paper bags are good too, and I reuse them.

Extremely organized shoppers drive me nuts. I never remember to bring my bags and I am sure everyone is judging me. Don't tell me you wash and sort your recycling.

Yes, I do wash and sort! I'm kind of a Type A person so this is second nature. However Santa Monica is single stream so I don't need to sort any more (Berkeley had multi-stream). So cleaning only.
