Chinese citizen waiting for CR 1 in Canada on work permit

Hello everyone, I am a Chinese citizen waiting for the CR petition in Canada. My husband is U.S. citizen.  I am legally staying in Canada on a work permit. I am still waiting for the NOA 2; meanwhile, I want to know, since I am a Chinese citizen (no PR in Canada), could I have the interview in Canada? (Staying in Canada is better for me to keep contact with my husband!)

If not, do I have to going back to China to have the medical examination and interview?

As long as you maintain legal residence in Canada you can interview in Canada.

My husband is also on work permit in Canada. They usually forward the case to Embassy of your residency. My cousin just went through process at Montreal embassy. Her fiance was in Canada for study. They actually requested the case to be sent to india but based on his residency, they sent it to Montreal. They did asked for paperwork to show his status in Canada. If you sent copy of your work permit with I130, then you should be good, otherwise, they will request it.
