Annoying and involving multiple governments, but seemingly easier than getting married in the US.

You will need to get an "Affidavit of Legal Capacity to Marry" from the US Consulate.

There is a link contained on their website for the Home Affairs office which just makes me weep, however it does tell you what documents and other things you need the day of the marriage.

Intergate has some good explanations about the South African residence process.

You'll be looking at a Spousal Visa, then a Spousal Permit, and finally Permanent residence.

Good luck!
