If we have to get married in Morocco I will do it. I just think it is an easier (less annoying) process than in Morocco where you have to do so much and you cant just get married in like a day or so. From what I was reading I have to go to several places get documents from here and there and the docs I have to bring include my (non existent) criminal history and a whole bunch of other stuff that I cant remember right now. It just seems easier to do the k-1.

And what do you think he will have to go through to convince the US government that a Moroccan man is genuinely in love with a woman 9 years older than him, divorced, with children, that his parents don’t approve of, with whom he has spent only 2 weeks, and that he genuinely wants to build a future with her and not just wants a green card? Not to mention all the paperwork that every visa applicant must go through (medical, criminal record check, full social media history investigated, interview, documents being translated, etc).

This is a very valid point. We both will have to go through our own version of hoops admittedly. We have decided to go through with the k-1. I am looking for tickets now to visit in the next few months. I just read an article that said 7 more Muslim countries might be added to the ban already in place. I really really hope that Morocco is not on the list.

I went to Morocco planning to get married there, but my fiance's father took the family book and went to his village and threatened to call the police on us.  I am almost 20 years older than him.  I went there the first time to visit over a spring break for a week, and then I went back for two months in the summer.  I then sponsored him for a K1 visa.  He has been here in the US for 8 years now.  He was working for the government there as a teacher. I am also a teacher. They did ask my then fiance about his family, whom I have never met and probably will never meet.  I also had two children at the time.  I am not Muslim.

I do recommend you make a second trip there.

Hi thanks I actually just came back from my second visit not too long ago, where I met some of his family and got the blessing from his mother for our engagement and marriage. Tomorrow I am going to mail the application for the k-1!
