Hi Friends,

New to this group-submitted I-130. My PD is August 8th at Potomac Service Center. I called USCIS just to make sure I wasn't missing anything in the package of paperwork I sent and asked them for an estimated timeline for approval and the guy said 2 years or 1 year and 10 months. He said there was an influx of application submissions at the end of 2017 which has caused a slowdown. I honestly think I am being misinformed. Has anyone else recieved similar information?

Yes the USCIS processing times on the website is what I have primarily been following which is why I was surprised when the USCIS representative on the phone said 2 years. Wondering if the representative has more of an accurate processing timeline or the one posted on their website.

My Timeline:

Application recieved: Aug 8th 2019

Priority Date: August 8th

NOA 1: August 13th 2019

I would trust the website over anyone answering the phone at an USCIS processing center.  Processing centers handle many types of petitions.  A supervisor would have a realistic idea.  If your petition goes past the inquiry date then you know to open a ticket,

The timelines on this site are up on the top right, click on your profile name and then timeline.   Your dates will be added to the dates of others members and you can see, based on fellow members, what times are being processed based on actual data.

Hi guys,

This came off of a Facebook group back at the beginning of December.

"Good evening,
After doing some research i have found that Potomac service center was established in 2016 and generally processes renewal of green cards and asylum cases but due to the workload, CSC has transferred some of the cases to Potomac and the newly trained officers are taking longer than usual to review our i130 petitions.

Those people who’s case has been transferred to Potomac service center and at least one month has been passed after the transfer and haven’t heard from USCIS, they may submit an online inquiry to know the current status of their case at the link below;

https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do

I would also request to the new members of the group to please share their Priority date and transfer date that would help many of us. Thank you"

So we also have Green Card renewals and asylum cases being processed, not just Citizen petitioner I-130s.

I was thinking the same thing! My PD is 8/26/19 for I130 spouse and I remember before Christmas the timeline was saying I should hear an approval by January and then it all of a sudden jumped to March #######?!? Hoping Potomac picks back up soon and it’s been so quietly lately for approvals 🙁

As seen on Facebook.

Someone with PD of September was approved at Potomac. But I think he/she fast track the process with I-129f

Those at Potomac among us should expect something soon I guess.

Hi, I am a little bit confused, is it mean the person he filed I-130 in Nebraska, and then later the person filed I-129 and got the case transferred to Potomac? I am very curious if the I-129 still functions to expedite the case, so I did not apply it yet.

It doesn't say which center they initially were filed at, but based on the visa type, it could have been California. Most of the F2As in that group which were transferred to Potomac started at the California center.

What is F2As? Sorry I am new to here and do not know the abbreviated term. I just wonder should I file the K-3 visa (I-129) now after I filed I-130? Before it could accelerate the I-130 process, but people say it has not been functioned for a while.

F2A is a visa for spouses of Green card holders. They are limited in number, so the process is often much slower. I don't see any harm in filing it tbh. If it doesn't work, at least you tried. It's not like it costs any money (I-129f is free for I-130 filers).

I see. Thank you for such detailed explanation!  My husband is US citizen, so the F2A is not something I am looking for. For the K-3, one of my friend applied it after she submitted her I-130 in TSC. But her I-130 was rejected after she submitted the K-3 for a while. The USCIS did not give her a clear explanation for why rejected her I-130. I am worried if her rejection of I-130 related with the K-3. So I am still hesitate if I should submit the K-3.

So I can file I129 for free since i filed the I130 already? I am a US citizen and I am currently petitioning for my step-daughter our PD is Aug. 30th.
