Of course.  I just had to correct the quote that included RNs with drivers and cooks.  Those are important jobs too, but with far different requirements and duties.

Yes correct. A recruiter in the US army told me once that the army wont even let you use a lawn mower if you are not trained, let alone being a nurse haha.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

I am an only son.

If you do go to war and they find this out, they'll send out a search part led by Tom Hanks and Vin Diesel to look for you. Saving Private CrafterCool

You entered the US with an Immigrant Visa (IR-1/CR-1, etc.)? Or with a K-1?

I became a permanent resident while had years of being a visa holder (through marriage), now seeking for citizenship.

In 2017, on which day did you enter the US? You can file the N-400 up to 90 days early: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-early-filing-calculator

Yep, already studying 👍😉

Who’s at war? And to which countries service are you refering to with relation to mandatory service? and if you get us citizenship I assume any service outstanding and specific to Mexico would bepend on your retention of dual nationality..

any countries mandated call up to serve, over rides your personal beliefs if you fall within the mandated category... if you’re called to serve the us after becoming a us citizen (highly unlikely) you have to serve unless physically mentally prevented from doing so..

Conscientious objectors are a thing.

First off if you are not willing to join up and serve even as a conscientious objector then why did you decide for U.S. Citizenship, and why are you here?

Also you can still get called up and serve if there is a big war. Just because you have no military training doesn't affect that.

Some of people don't support war mongering, you know.

As a proud veteran and retiree of the US Armed Forces you all know how I would answer the OP questions, so I'll just leave it at that so I won't get into trouble with the Admin here... I will say what nerve!!!!!!😡

If you would serve anyhow, why are you asking this question?

Read the oath of allegiance carefully. It's an oath. If you don't agree with it in full, dont say it.

My husband is a veteran.  I am proud of him for his service.  I am proud of my active service BIL.  But since I can't in good conscious say the oath as my allegiance is to Canada as my home country, I don't apply for citizenship.

I was in high school when they last were drafting people into service.  It was also the war they had conscious objectors as a role  They let those people stay in the US and gave them positions .but not always the nicest one ( I know a man that had to open bags of body pieces and try to figure out which ones belonged together to send to a family because there was no DNA testing then )  That being said my 40th college reunion recently occurred and there have been a few wars since the one I remember with no draft.  Most people are proud enough of this country to want to serve  and I would rather be protected by people of that mindset than someone who isn't .

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I think if you are over 26 years of age you don't have to register for selective service.
