[ Massive facepalm ] Again, I would serve, I just don't like war, just as many other citizens would serve even when they'd rather not to.

I really wouldn’t worry about it, it’s highly unlikely to happen... but if it did, you could consider Cook, chaplain and other non combat roles

Let's just hope and pray (although I'm not a religious person) that we never have to experience another World War or something similar.

My brother, in order to be a US citizen, you have to take Oath of Allegiance. I am just gonna quote the relevant part here. They will ask you if you understand it and if you are willing to do it. You have to answer truthfully, from the bottom of your heart.

I understand what's about to come when becoming a citizen, and I would not lie when taking the Oath of Allegiance since I'd be willing to obey the law in all its forms, the main concern here was knowing the war procedures, when they call for civilians to go and help and stuff like that.

Yes, I understand your concern and it is valid especially with what is going on now. Chances you will be drafted are slim to none. You are not within the age range to begin with. Relax and enjoy life and peace. I honestly expect that after the tension between US and Iran things will get better. Both showed their muscles and both doesn't really want war. I think things is going to get better.

I hope so too, especially since this is the country that will see my sons (perhaps yours too) grow and become men of good.

It's always better when you go back to PI as a Fleet Marine....

No war with Iran at this time.

No draft at this time. Unlikely for one to occur.

Extremely unlikely you would be called to serve.

If you are called to serve your country, you would have pledged to do so.

(Virtually) Nobody likes war or wants war, especially with the types of weapons that exist nowadays. But wars still happen.

The US military has one of, if not the, best training programs in the world. They know how to handle people with no training just fine.

I was not around for WW2, and am not in the age range where I would likely be called to serve. I believe war is a last option.

But another holocaust is not something I can ethically tolerate - I would still serve, if needed, if I believed my actions would help prevent that.

Some might be cooks, drivers, nurse, communications, logistics, etc..

Just to clarify:  registered nursing is a highly skilled profession, requiring a degree.  RNs in the military are officers.

Of course.  I just had to correct the quote that included RNs with drivers and cooks.  Those are important jobs too, but with far different requirements and duties.

From a practical perspective with gender equality and assuming you identify as make your chance at any given age of being  conscripted is less than half what it would have been in earlier times.

And it would be a very long time before they went after the 30 plus.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Keep in mind we haven’t had a draft for a long time time, even with multiple wars/military actions at once.  Plus they won’t go for 30 year olds.  I wouldn’t worry about it for even a minute.
