I wouldn't be an objector, I'm just concerned about it, and as I am not an expert on the subject I came to this forum to get informed.

If you are unwilling to be an objector but still not willing to serve, then you would likely have to consider jail time.

Relax my friend. This is most likely will not happen. Also in case there is a draft, they will start with younger people. 18-22 years old. Also, not everyone who gets drafted will be assigned to combat duties. Some might be cooks, drivers, nurse, communications, logistics, etc..

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

Many US citizens who were born and raised here would not want to go to a war. Regardless against who. Can you ask them why are they still in the US? lol.

That's why I said even as a conscientious objector. I would and do ask them as well. Many people don't realize how great we have it here until they have served.

I wish we had a minimum service time like many other countries do.

I just was concerned since... you know, I prefer peace over war.

That's why I asked the part about being a conscientious objector

Being an objector goes against the oat your about to take... how can you take the oat if you already know you have no intention of keeping your promise to the USA?

Yes, I understand your concern and it is valid especially with what is going on now. Chances you will be drafted are slim to none. You are not within the age range to begin with. Relax and enjoy life and peace. I honestly expect that after the tension between US and Iran things will get better. Both showed their muscles and both doesn't really want war. I think things is going to get better.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

[ Massive facepalm ] Again, I would serve, I just don't like war, just as many other citizens would serve even when they'd rather not to.

We do NOT have a war with Iran....We have an all volunteer military...but I can tell from personal experience that boot camps are full of new people who had no prior military training.

Ah boot camp, don’t miss that place 😂

I can also tell you that the news media and Twitter are full of misinformation and false fear.

Everyone does I think? My grandfather was pretty pacifist, with a youngin' on the way and still he was drafted. He didn't know a thing about fighting nor cared for it. Still he served in WWII honorably. He did not care to speak about the horrors he saw. If objecting was an option for him I suppose he might have. There are various ways to serve the country during wartime that does not involve taking lives. Citizenship requires such things if needed, and it should be thought over carefully, especially if it is difficult for you. Perhaps it is not for you. We are not at war, and you will be unlikely to ever be called.
