EAD, signing contract? Can the contract end after First EAD expires?

Hi all. I am adjusting for status from K1. I finally received my EAD, and it will expire at the end of December. I’m looking for a job and have an interview, but I was thinking (and it might be a stupid question) whether the contract can only last until the EAD expiration date?
I will most likely receive my green card before December, and if I don’t, I will renew the EAD, so I don’t even know whether that expiration date is very relevant in the job-looking process.
Thanks!!

It is fine, should not be an issue when the contract ends. If they hire you, you will need to fill out an I-9 form. Use your EAD for that. Once it is close to expiring the HR department should ask you for the new authorization.

That can be your GC or extension letter if file for a new EAD in the case your GC is not coming or the new EAD card if you receive it on time.

You can file for the new EAD 6 months before it expires with NOA1 from AOS and it's free. So just in case better to file if you don't have your GC at the time the window opens for the EAD renewal.

The only reason to end it if you can't show any of the above. They might have issues with the extension letter but be firm about that it is a valid document and they should not terminate you.

Very detailed answer, thank you so much! I don't know what I would do without people like you... 😰
I will make sure to file for renewal as soon as I can.

You are welcome.

A lot of employers are not familiar with K1 or in general about immigration unless it's a huge company with foreign workers.

Also they should not ask any of that at the interview (basically before the interview) but usually they do it anyway to not waste time if you are not eligible to work legally.

I used to highlight in the cover letter or in my resume that I don't require visa sponsorship. That also helps to get through the first filter.
